Parent Override Process

In order for a course recommendation Parent Override to be considered, all steps of the process must be finalized by the deadline, April 10th 2024.

​

• Parent emails teacher - The parent will email the teacher that made the recommendation they are wanting to override and explain the reason for the request. The teacher will respond with feedback.
• Parent forwards communication to school counselor - After the teacher responds with feedback, the parent will forward the email showing the communication between the parent and the teacher to the student’s assigned school counselor.
• Parent submits Parent Override Request Form - The parent completes and submits the digital Parent Override Request Form agreeing to all the conditions of the override.

Open Block Policy

​

Open blocks are not guaranteed. Open Am and Open PM will be switched or removed if scheduling conflicts arise.

Rising Junior and Seniors that are ahead of schedule to earn all credits for graduation and meet requirements for College and Career Readiness (CCR), earn the opportunity to request to have a less than full schedule (Open AM and/or Open PM).

NOTE: All open periods are subject to administrative approval. Students must return their course requests letters with a parent signature in order to receive administrative approval.

SchooLinks is a comprehensive College and Career Readiness platform provided to all Greenville County Schools middle and high school students. Required tasks are assigned to students which provide valuable information in creating each student’s Individual Graduation Plan (IGP).

As students near the end of high school, they use the platform to apply to colleges, explore scholarships, and access internship and job opportunities.
