The General Serpa Pinto School is a PIET (Priority Intervention Educational Territory) School, located in the Cinfães municipality. This is a poor region, with a great wealth: the landscape. So, the tourism, linked to nature, begins to be one of the main sources of income for families. The School has about 200 staff (130 are teachers) and serves a population of about 1100 students from kindergarden through 9th grade. There is also an establishment where an Education and Training Course is offered and where a Qualifica Center is located, with almost 500 registered adults. The School also owns the RCICT (ICT Resource Center for Special Education). More than 80% of students receive financial support to study, with a considerable number of students with learning disabilities and special educational needs. Currently, the School has a Multiannual Improvement Plan with three priority intervention axes: School Culture and Pedagogical Leadership; Curriculum Management, Partnerships

Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) is the largest and most prestigious Portuguese university, and a major European university. ULisboa has 18 Schools and over 100 research units, around 50,000 students, 4,000 lecturers, and 400 degree courses. It is a major center for teaching, research, innovation, sports, culture, and art. The Institute of Education (IE-ULisboa) is one of ULisboa’s Schools that embraces the domains of research, teaching, community intervention, and support to public policies and programs in the area of education and training. IE-ULisboa develops a comprehensive study of education to produce relevant inputs for a knowledge-based transformation of educational systems and practices.
The research team intentionally includes researchers with different degrees of expertise, including established and recognized researchers, and benefits from consistent networking previously established on joint research efforts, namely by collaboration in small studies and national or international projects. They have been engaged in research focusing on inclusive practices to prevent students’ dropout; student engagement with and attitudes towards learning activities; and the learning difficulties that students face namely in mathematics, science, and the other STEM areas, either addressing students in regular schools or institutionalized youngsters. The project team has the advantage of being versatile and multifaceted in mastering multiple research methods in education. Team members have produced numerous studies within an interpretive research paradigm, whilst other have the expertise in designing and implementing quantitative methods, associated with diverse statistical methods.
It is a primary school from Knjaževac, located in the least developed eastern part of Serbia, providing education to students between the ages of 6 and 15. The school goal is to work constantly on enriching its management and staff capacities to enable its students to fulfill the prescribed outcomes of acquiring the 21st century relevant knowledge and skills and exercising their rights living fulfilled, proactive and responsible lives. The school has 50 teachers and 550 students, 10% of whom have participated successfully in the republican and international competitions of all the subjects for the last 10 years. The outstanding achievements of our students are procured by careful planning and obtaining of the necessary resources, through either technical and didactic equipment or opportunities for teachers’ professional advancement. They constantly work on their professional development attending and being part of numerous seminars in vivo or online, such as Future learn, Udemy, etc
