Good morning, and thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to participate in the AP Summit.

This is the first time in many years that we have been able to bring AP teachers from across the Pacific together.

Our goal is to answer your call for better communication and collaboration with your like-content peers in the PAC.

We hope that over the course of these two days that you will connect with new colleagues, strengthen communication with old friends, and develop collaborative relationships that you can build upon over the coming years.

Reminder about course for credit – will be in the Schoology materials.

You should have a Lync Meeting request in your Outlook Inbox. If you accept the meeting, it will go to your calendar. You will need to open your calendar to find the meeting invitation. The Lync LINK is in the meeting invitation. The Lync meeting is where you will connect with your CONTENT Groups. We will let you know when to do that.

ISSs- I suggest you use the “White Board” feature on Lync. Click the blue circle with a monitor, then choose “White Board.” Type in something like Reflection Big Ideas, or Ah-has, etc. Teachers can type directly on to the white board space without being identified. This might make people feel more comfortable sharing, then you can open some discussions about the shared ideas.

The first part of the morning will be spent with Troy Purdin, the Pacific AVID ISS to look at a few AVID strategies that can be applied to any classroom.

Then, you will break into your content groups to spend some time collaborating with each other and your curricular ISSs about how these and other strategies would work/benefit an AP class.

You will probably be familiar with many of the strategies that we will focus on. During the discussions with your content groups, please consider which of these strategies would address the areas you determined were focus points from your IPR

Please meet with your ISS or administrator to share your SMART Goal, or for support and assistance. Please also feel free to work with your colleagues.

You will notice that on the SMART Goal form, we have already entered some information in the Measureable and Time-bound sections. To facilitate collaboration between teachers, we have decided to put in parameters about the minimum times you will need to try out your strategy and that you will need to post about it. This will allow you to see if anyone else is either using a strategy you are, or a strategy that you are comfortable with so you can connect to give and receive support.

The Time-bound parameter is that we need to wrap up this portion of the work by the end of the school year so that we can have closure.

We will take two hours for this portion. Please take a break as needed.
