PSAT Results are now available online!

• Students who provided a mobile phone number during testing can view their scores on the BigFuture School app. They should have received a text with this information.
• Alternatively, students can log on to their College Board account to view scores at psat.org/scorereport

Scoring Information

The SAT Suite uses a “Common Score Scale”…

​

• This means a student who made a 500 on the Math section of the PSAT/NMSQT would be expected to also get a 500 on the Math section of the SAT.
• Also makes growth easy to determine. If student makes a 500 on Math section of PSAT/NMSQT this year and a 550 on the SAT next year, they have shown a growth of 50 points.
• SAT score range: 400 - 1600

Used for National Merit selection

The ranges reported for each assessment reflect grade-level appropriateness within the common score scale

Student Score Report Overview

• Total Score - 1120

​

• Individual Score Range - shows how much a student’s scores would vary if they took the test again under identical conditions

​

• 3 Year Average Score - average score of all testers in the last 3 years

​

• Percentile - the percent of 11th grade testers from the last 3 years who scored the same or below you

​

• Section Scores
• Also includes score ranges, average scores, and percentiles

​

• Knowledge and Skills
• A visual of student performance on each of the 8 content domains

​

• Students can use this section to identify content domains they may want to focus on to practice and improve.

​

• NMSC Selection Index Score
• Used as an initial screen of students for entry to the National Merit Scholarship Program

National Merit Information

National Merit Scholarship Program

​

• An annual academic competition among high school students for recognition and college undergraduate scholarships.
• Students qualify by taking the PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) their junior year of high school.
• Timeline:
• October 2024 → 1.3 million U.S. high school juniors took the PSAT/NMSQT
• April 2025 → 50,000 top scorers are identified and their high schools notified
• September 2025 → 34,000 Commended Scholars and 16,000 Semi-finalists notified by their high schools (based on selection index score)
• February 2026 → 15,000 Finalists. Semifinalists who meet academic and other requirements
• March 2026 → 6,870 Merit Scholarship Winners notified

Additional Practice Options - Edgenuity

PISD Students are able to self-enroll in a variety of Edgenuity Test Prep courses.

Student Access:

• Plano ISD’s Webdesk
• Click on Edgenuity for Students tile
• Click the + in the top right corner next to your name
• A list of Test Prep courses will appear. To enroll click on the “Enroll” button to the right of the desired course.
• After you enroll, click on the the X in the top right corner of the screen.
• Your test prep course should now be in your dashboard.
