  • Digital tool to guide medical students in choosing the most appropriate medical approach for patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

    • For example, dosage and side effects for a specific drug.

Challenge

Innovative

Approach

  • Script Dx, a digital tool

designed to emphasize Type 2

Diabetes Mellitus, helps medical

students critically think and apply the

best possible solutions to medical

cases.

    • Scenarios Include: Patients' current thoughts, symptoms, medical history and more

    • Information of Drugs

Learning Styles

Script Theory

  • Script Theory is the idea that an individual’s social interactions are organized as information that guides how one should react to a similar situation (Stoica, 2021).

Error-Based Learning Theory

  • Error-based learning theory is the process by which an individual reviews and understands the mistake made on a question (Marlett, 2025).

Application Of Learning Theories

  • Script theory on Script Dx is demonstrated through medical case scenarios, such as a patient at an appointment with the doctor. Scenarios include all information necessary to deduce a medical solution.

  • Error-based learning theory is presented on Script Dx, where mistaken scenario questions are encouraged to be reviewed and provided with an explanation of the answer.

Process:

  1. Clinical Selection: Students choose cases, drugs, comparisons, or challenges.
  2. Curated Knowledge Retrieval (Base 44): System retrieves structured T2DM-specific content from a closed knowledge base.
  3. AI Illness Script Structuring: Content is transformed into clinical reasoning frameworks and decision prompts.
  4. Interactive Clinical Challenges: Students engage in timed cases, drug comparisons, and mechanism-based quizzes.
  5. Analytics & Reinforcement: Performance data identifies gaps and guides targeted practice.

Enhancing Medical Learning

& Clinical Experience

  • Improve clinical reasoning: critical skills required for medical students

  • Making studying engaging and an interactive adventure (point system-based)

  • Using challenge-based motivation (collecting points as an award) boosts psychological well-being by activating dopamine

Enhancing Medical Learning

& Clinical Experience

  • Progressive difficulty: simple cases, then unlock the complex case, to help demonstrate self-assessment and competence

  • Increase confidence in decision-making by exposure to real-life simulated experience

  • Adaptive feedback

Future Development

  • AI integration, including conversational engagement, role-play

  • Progress map to track where the student is standing

  • Personalized evaluation: what type of questions the student frequently gets wrong, the section that needs to be practiced, and highlights of flagged questions
