Containers Explained

  • Previously in Virtualization Customers would have one app per VM
    • This was done to minimize dependency conflicts
    • Huge waste of CPU resources
  • Containers are much more efficient at distribution of CPU resources
    • Process Isolation
    • Ideal for automation

How Are Containers Made

Docker

  • Standard for containerized apps
  • Easy way to build/manage containers
    • dockerhub
  • Can pull images to run on any machine
  • Any machine can now have consistency deploy and scale apps without dependencies
  • This is a key building block for your final project
  • Using containers will distinguish you from other Data Science Applicants
