To support career exploration, Encourage offers, of course, the interest inventory that will match young people to careers, or they can explore by specific career areas. Data on each career are from O*NET and are national, pulling (where available) the average national salary, the typical education required to pursue the career, and how in demand the career is so that a student can see, at a quick glance national information about specific career pathways. Once a student begins to explore more about a specific career, they’ll see more about the responsibilities, skills, knowledge, and abilities required for a career. And because it is national data it is inclusive of all first steps after high school – on-the-job training, high school/GED, Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and Master’s + Just like the other areas of the app, young people can save careers to their profile.

MyACT & Encourage

MyACT should be prioritized during testing registration windows

Encourage is a great starting place and will give them a MyACT account when they need it

Encourage is a part of the ACT family, so students can use their MyACT login information for Encourage or Encourage login for MyACT! But which account should come first?

Helpful Tip! For these accounts to work together, they need the same information including legal name, home address, and email.

The connection of Encourage and ACT is an exciting one and so we wanted to emphasize a few points:

Again, if students already have a MyACT account, they can use that to log into Encourage. Otherwise, please be aware that students will be creating a MyACT account as they create their Encourage account. It is important that educators remind students to please use their legal name and personal email address when creating their Encourage account due to the tie with MyACT. A great bonus of this connection: When it comes to state/district testing, students will already have their MyACT accounts in hand!

If you are a state/district that offers testing, we recommend that during the test registration window, students prioritize creating their MyACT account first – their Encourage account will automatically be created with the same credentials.

Tip for educators: Technical difficulties can sometimes still occur, and ACT is there to help as they always have been! Should any of your students have trouble using their claim code (provided before testing) or ACT ID (from paper score report), they should call - as they have in the past - ACT’s student services to make the necessary changes. Their contact information is 319-337-1270 and hours of operation is between 8AM - 8PM CT. Alternatively, their email is act-cares@act.org.
