We have about 30 members, mostly grade 8s, with some grade 7s, and a few grade 6s.
What are Spirit Days? Once a month, we will have a dress up to foster community spirit and a sense of belonging. Note: Students always have the option to wear their tie-dye shirts or YCS gear on any Spirit Days.
What are Lunch Time Activities? Generally, lunch time activities are held on Spirit Days. Lunchtime activities are meant to be fun, engaging activities (such as relay races/games, etc.) to promote a sense of belonging and community.
SLC has begun a bulletin board next to the school library. We are posting about the events with pictures and happenings. This is be added to as the year goes on. You are welcome to stop by and check it out.

(Classes that collected more than 100 food items were treated to Ms.Corson’s homemade cookies.)

November Spirit Day – Wed. Nov. 24
Back in TIme!
Students were invited to dress in the style of a decade/century of their choice.
Note: At our September SLC meeting, student leader organized bags with poppies for the Legion.
December 2023
Christmas Market - Dec 7 - 8 from 12:20-12:45
*Parents must sign to give their Grade 4-8 child permission to sell items.
*Students can sell homemade crafts, baking or selling gently used books, small toys, etc.. Items priced between 25 cents to $5.00
*SLC will have a raffle using items from the sellers.
*In the spirit of the season and giving,students are asked to donate at least 50% of their earnings (in the past many have given 100%).
*The money raised will go to families in need. ($300 donated to Royal family in need and $450 to Extravadance Senior Stockings.)

Wed Dec 18th (Xmas socks and sandals), Thurs. Dec 19th (Pajama Day), Friday, Dec 20th (Holiday Accessories , Ugly Sweaters, Reindeer antlers, Santa hats, etc.)
January - February 2024
Telemiracle Fundraising Events - Helping Hands
*YCS is fundraising for Telemiracle 48 with the sale of Helping Hands ($1 each). In addition, students have the chance to win several prizes (including Telemiracle teddy bears, t-shirts, water bottles, and other treats) on Thursday, February 15th. Each Helping Hand is a chance to win (and more importantly, do some good for Saskatchewan families in need.) YCS raised $682.
*Raffle winners will be announced Thursday, Feb 15th.
*YCS Fundraising ends Feb 16th (pick up by local Kinsmen representative) SLC donated $800 to Telemiracle.
*Telemiracle broadcast is Feb 24th-25th from Regina

World Down Syndrome Day - We invited YCS students to wear mismatched socks to show their support for our two students with Down Syndrome.
May - June 2024
Anything But a Backpack Day - Friday, May 10th
SLC donated $300 to a family in need and $300 to Yorkton’s Boy &
Girls Club.
