These are some questions/discussion topics to help develop the IB Learner Profile attribute, Risk-taker.

  • What does being a risk-taker mean to you?
  • What are some ways you have been a risk-taker?
  • What are some new foods that you would like to explore? New experiences?
  • If you find something difficult what are some strategies you can use to accomplish it?
  • If there is a fear of failure, how can we conquer that fear?

  • How as Lou a risk-taker? What struggles did she face?
  • What risk did Sniff & Scurry take? Why?
  • Why did Hem and Haw stay at the cheese station instead of leaving? Why do you thin this?
  • Think of a time that you have thought like Hem and Haw! Sniff and Scurry! How did you feel? What made you think those ways?

Action Ideas

  • Talk about what it means to be a risk-taker.
  • Create a list of new experiences that your student would like to take. Then go and do them! You can do the same with a family list.
  • Try new foods, especially those fruits and vegetables!
  • Reflect and talk about what it was like to try something new.
  • If someone makes a mistake, discuss how these mistakes make us grow.
