Monday = Mother Claus

Writing Ideas: (Must choose and complete x2 tasks)

  • Write a set of instructions for Santa from Mrs Claus - Take hot tea, don't forget Australia etc.
  • Instructions for making mince pies.
  • Writing a letter to Santa but asking for somebody else. This could range from something very personal to 'world peace.'
  • Santa's Christmas Eve diary.
  • Redesigning Mrs Claus' outfit to make it more 'Christmassy'
  • There are other presents in the helicopter - tell the story of how these got there and how they are delivered.
  • Write a guide to being a little brother from the little boy's point of view.
  • Dual diaries by both children about the same events.
  • Setting description describing the 'cabin.'
  • Write this story - perhaps call it "Mrs Claus Saves The Day!'

Tuesday = The Long Wait

Writing Tasks:

  • The children could write a narrative about the waiting, using sentence structure to build up the tension.
  • They could write in the 1st person, perhaps as a diary, telling the audience of his frustration.
  • Discussions could be had about the joy of giving, giving to people who are more worse off than us etc

Wednesday = Reindeer Ready

Writing Tasks:

  • Instructions/Recipes - Create recipes for meals that Reindeers would enjoy! Need to include carrots of course!
  • Instructions - How to prepare your home on Christmas Eve. Firstly, put on your best pyjamas. Secondly, hang your stocking by the fire. Then place a mince pie and a drink for Santa by the fire.... Etc.
  • News Report - Perhaps people in your town witnessed Santa in McDonalds. Headlines may read 'Santa Spotted in Southend' or 'Father Christmas Drive Thru Drama' etc
  • Dialogue - Write the dialogue between the reindeer. What do they say when they are left on the roof and Santa is inside the house?

Friday = From our family, to yours...

Writing Tasks:

  • Create paper stars for 3 of your peers and share special memories (from this year) on them.
  • Tell the story from different points of view: Lola, grandmother, the dog, Mickey mouse. This can be written in the form of a recount or dialogue.
  • Explore how feelings are shown in the film and describe these in a narrative using the show, don't tell technique. Complete the doc

  1. Watch the video about the Hiapo (Niuean tapa)
  2. Write a short paragraph about what you have learnt about the Hiapo
  3. Think about the process of it being made, what they need to make, patterns, style
  4. Don’t forget your name and date
  5. Make sure whatever google app you are using to do your activity is in the RIGHT FOLDER BEFORE you link it to the google slide
  6. When you have finished writing your paragraph, grab a square paper to start making your own design so that when we combine everyone’s piece it will look similar to the masterpiece on the right!
