Upcoming Events

Today I am thinking about the importance of gathering as a community. Today is our first fun event of the year. I hope you enjoy our annual Trunk and Treat.

I want to emphasize the importance of family events in our community. These gatherings not only strengthen our bonds but also foster a supportive environment for our students. By participating, you contribute to a sense of belonging and create lasting memories for our children.

Together, we can cultivate a vibrant school culture that values collaboration and connection. I encourage each of you to join us at our upcoming events and share in the joy of our school community.

Thank you for your continued support!

Love, Principal Gruber

Spotlight on Specials

Recently preschool students have read books about apples, fire safety, and squirrels. They enjoyed the song “Squirrel Dance and Freeze”! So fun!

In Kindergarten, students talked about the parts of a story. The Parts of a Story song helps us remember! For Indigenous Peoples Day, we read “Fry Bread” and talked about making food with our families. We also read the fall books “The Golden Acorn” and “The Leaf Thief”. They will soon learn how to find non-fiction books in the library!!

In the last month, first grade students have learned about powwows and reviewed the story elements. Next, they will learn how to use the online resource PebbleGo for non-fiction articles. To use at home, go to www.pebblego.com [username: ellsworthes password: read].

Second graders learned some Cherokee words for Indigenous Peoples Day from the book “We are Grateful”. They also reviewed the story elements using the funny book “Mel Fell”. In the next weeks, we will review using PebbleGo and learn how to take notes from a book using their own words.

Checkout Crates topics this month: Apples and Pumpkins, Spiders, Elections, Scarecrows, and Nursery Rhymes. Here are some pictures.

Oliver Ellsworth Watch D.O.G.S Volunteers Needed in The Parking Lot!

Dear Watchdogs,

As we continue throughout the school year, it is our hope that we can continue to count on your influence in many areas. A couple of weeks ago, there was a request made at our Watch D.O.G.S presentation for help with traffic. This does not require much work. We are asking for your presence in the parking lot as a gentle reminder for parents to be mindful of safety. This will be during morning arrival from 8:25-8:45 and afternoon dismissal from 3:15-3:35. It will require 30 minutes. We know that each of you are extremely busy. The good news is that this can happen at your convenience.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact jfigueroa@windsorct.org or cwilliams@windsorct.org. We can provide more details about this request. Also feel free to approach Mr. Williams during traffic, to let him know if you are interested in volunteering.

Thank you in advance for your interest in volunteerism and being a role model to our parents and children.

Mr. Chris Williams & Ms. Julie Figueroa
