  • all students age 11 are required to have one dose of TDap

  • doses given at 10 years or older satisfy this requirement

  • if your child turned 11 in elementary school, you can give the paperwork to your current elementary school

  • otherwise please submit to our school in September

  • should be completed based on what your child is interested in participating in while here at I.S. 75

  • Our programmers do their best to honor the first choice, however, that may not always be possible

  • Make sure that the 2nd and 3rd choices are completed as well

6th Grade Majors (3 Year Commitment)

Band

Beginner Band - 6th grade beginning band is recommended for students with some or no prior musical instruction who are interested in learning how to play an instrument and participate in a large concert band. Beginning band is highly recommended for students who have a background in piano or other non-wind instruments.

Advanced Band - Open to students who currently play a wind or percussion instrument. Applicants to Advanced Band must submit an audition video to Mr. Alaimo demonstrating proficiency and music reading skills, including one scale and a 30-second excerpt of a musical piece. Students who select Advanced Band but do not submit an audition, or who do not meet the required proficiency level, will not be placed in advanced band. Advanced Band must be selected as the first choice to be considered. Please send video auditions to SAlaimo@schools.nyc.gov, by Monday June 1, 2026.

6th Grade Majors (3 Year Commitment)

Fine Art Major

students need to apply for this class by downloading, completing and submitting the Art Talent Examination found on the Accepted Student Bio Form. This exam is due June 1st and should be emailed directly to Aimparato@schools.nyc.gov. Students should select Fine Art Major as their first choice to be considered. Students in Fine Art Major are expected to stay in the program for all three years at Paulo.

  • Digital ArtsGet ready to maximize your imagination, challenge your creativity and showcase your talents in our professional Design Studio. The artist uses the computer as a tool. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and In Design are programs taught for those interested in working on an advanced level.

  • DanceThe class is designed for beginners looking to enhance their movement skills. This fun and active course focuses on all aspects of fitness and dance, covering a wide range of vocabularies, techniques, and structures from both fields. Our goal is to develop students' natural creativity while improving physical abilities such as alignment, strength, flexibility, coordination, spatial awareness, precision, and rhythmic accuracy

  • Music provides a variety of singing opportunities for students with all levels of Choral experience. Vocal techniques, vocal production, interpretation, performance and music reading are emphasized. Students are given the opportunity to explore various musical genres and styles. Much emphasis is placed on providing a positive musical experience to students through singing activities. Students will sing in unison, two-part and/or three-part harmony. Students will have the opportunity to sing solos and participate in various concert performances including an Annual Musical Play production.

  • Media Welcome to Media. In this class, your child will learn the basics of filming, video editing, and content creation. There is a vast amount of practical uses for video editing these days, and endless opportunities to express your own interests for others to enjoy via YouTube and other video sharing platforms. The intention of this class is to give students the opportunity to learn the necessary skills to thrive in both the real world, and whatever world they wish to create for themselves.

  • Film Academy - Film Academy is an introduction to the ins and outs of making a film. As film students, you will learn how to analyze film, and create your own short films using "Adobe Express". Want to learn how your favorite films are made, or are interested in creating your own? Film Academy may be the Minor for you!

  • TechnologyUnlock the world of coding with our exciting Intro to Coding class designed specifically for middle school students! In this interactive program, young minds delve into the fascinating realm of coding using diverse platforms. From building games to expressing their creativity, students embark on a journey where their ideas come to life through the language of code. Join us for a hands-on experience that not only nurtures technical skills but also fosters imagination and innovation. It's more than just coding – it's a pathway to limitless possibilities!

6th Grade Minors – Course Descriptions

  • DramaDrama is a safe space for students to expand their imaginations. In 6th grade, students learn basic acting skills to prepare them for future performances if they choose to audition for the 7th grade major class. Students who are chosen for the 7th grade class will perform in the holiday show in 7th grade, as well as at International Night and the Spring Concert.

  • STREAM – is designed for curious minds eager to explore and innovate. This hands-on class challenges students to solve real-world problems through exciting, interactive projects. From designing and testing prototypes to uncovering scientific mysteries, participants will build critical thinking skills while having fun.

Transportation

    • please review the most current alphabetical list of bus stops

  • “Street” location and Bus “Code/Slot” (Refer to Bus Stop & Eligibility List). The Bus code and bus slot number will appear on the student’s program card

  • BE AWARE THAT PIONEER TRANSPORTATION CORPORATION RECOMMENDS THAT YOUR CHILD BE AT THE BUS STOP AT LEAST 15 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE EXPECTED TIME OF ARRIVAL

  • All times and stops are subject to change. Please be patient, especially for the first few days of school and during inclement weather

Transportation

  • Residence/school distances are determined by the Office of Pupil Transportation (OPT) using the shortest walking route.
  • Please check the Busing Eligibility List provided on the Biographical/Curriculum form to determine the Distance Code for your home address:

    • “A” distance (less than ½ mile walking distance) designates a walker

(Code 1111)

    • “B” distance (½ mile or more, but less than 1 mile) designates a ½ fare Metro Card (Code MTA)

    • “C” distance (1 mile or more but less than 1 ½ miles) designates that a 6th grade student will receive yellow bus service. However 7th-8th grade students are eligible for a ½ fare Metro Card ONLY

    • “D” distance (1 ½ miles or more) designates that 6th, 7th and 8th grade students are eligible for either yellow bus service or full fare Metro Cards
