Hawksbill or Taku Turtle
This turtle is featured on the 1 oz silver coin in Niue. It is styled with a shell pattern swimming through the waters of the Pacific Ocean. The turtle is also featured on many of the different art types found in Niue.
Frangipani Flower
The frangipani flower is often a symbol of devotion for someone. This flower is also often used in many Pasicific Island art designs. The frangipani symbolising the most tropical paradise in cold countries which is why it is often associated with the islands of the Pacific. They are known for their beautiful smell and look.
Fiti Pua
This is the national flower of Niue. It comes from the pua tree that grows wild inland on the island Inangaro Vakaafi was inspired by hiapo uses these flowers in her art work. She uses both big and small drawings to represent the women and children she advocates for.
Niue blue butterfly
Niue has an endemic butterfly. This means that these butterflies are found nowhere else in the world so its is special to Niue. It is referred to as the Niue blue. It was discovered by a Gold Coast school teacher and butterfly collector in December 2009.
