The "Child of Critias" (490-480 BC), marble, Acropolis Museum.A landmark work in the history of sculpture, since it is the first in which the body is no longer rendered statically. It appears natural, as if it were alive and existing. The smile still forms the arc of the "archaic grin". The hair, well combed, is braided around the head.

Just as the Kouros figures began to move and more accurately depict the human form, the Parthenon and its sculptures also reflect the idea of a lively, dynamic, and active society of citizens. The harmony in the movement of the Kouros aligns with the balance and proportion of the Parthenon, which was considered the ultimate architectural standard. In both cases, art becomes a vehicle for ideas — of freedom, individuality, and collective expression. This demonstrates that art was not merely an aesthetic experience but also a form of political and social expression
