Mrs. Byrne

Hi! My name is Mrs. Byrne, and I am so excited to be your Math and Writing teacher this year! More importantly, I am THRILLED to be your teacher! It’s going to be a fun year full of lots of learning and new adventures, and I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us. I want to know ALL about you, but first I’m going to tell you a few things about me.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but I have lived in Floyds Knobs my whole life. I have a wonderful husband named Tim, and we have two precious children. Whitley is our daughter and turns 8 later this month. Tripp is our son who just turned four. We also have a fur baby, Jaffe. I went to elementary school at Galena and attended Floyd Central Junior/ Senior High School. I majored in Special Education, received a Master’s degree in general education, and just completed my Plus 30 in Educational Leadership. I have always loved teaching!

I am now going into my 10th year of teaching, and I love 4th grade! I know exactly what you need to know, which will help me challenge you to reach for the stars this school year! I am so excited to be your teacher, and I bet this will be your best school year yet.

Mrs. Wardlaw

Hey 4th graders, I’m Mrs. Wardlaw. I’m so excited to be your Reading & Writing teacher this year! I know this year may seem a little different and we’re facing some new challenges, but I’m confident we will work together and learn SO much.

I can’t wait to learn all about you and your favorite things. Until then, I’ll tell you a little about myself. I love hot pink, running, sports, IU basketball, pizza and anything Disney! I graduated from Jeffersonville High School and went to Indiana University in Bloomington and studied elementary education. I live in Sellersburg with my husband, Bill, and my two kiddos. Kaidyn is 12 and she is in 7th grade at Scribner Middle School. Keegan is 9 and is in 3rd grade at Grant Line. They keep me busy with their sports and activities in our spare time!

This is my 18th year teaching and my 5th year of being at Green Valley. I love teaching 4th grade, and I’m so excited to watch you learn and grow!

Changes this school year

Masks

  • All students and teachers are required to have a mask and wear it when six feet of social distancing cannot be maintained.

Arrival

  • Students are encouraged to be car riders if possible. You will drop off your child by door #9. Staff will begin unloading car riders at 7:30am. Students will get a prepackaged breakfast and take it to their classroom.

  • Buses will unload at 7:40am. Only one bus will be unloaded at a time to keep hallway traffic to a minimum. Students will get a prepackaged breakfast and take it to their classroom.

Lunch

  • Lunch times are staggered so only one grade level is in the cafeteria or lunch line at a time.

Chrome Books

We have been incredibly lucky to receive funding for every student to be provided a device. This opportunity will allow for regular instruction to continue for your student even from home in the event schools close. Your child will be assigned a device on the first day of school. This chromebook WILL NOT GO HOME unless a shutdown occurs. We will ensure your child understands all the programming to ensure they can operate it independently.
