Note: You can use as many or few locks as you’d like. The lock keys don’t have to correlate to your content.

Brainstorm your clues below. Remember: they should play into your theme! Use your example questions from #3. Here are some clue ideas! (Note: Include some distracting non-clues!)

YOUR CLUES

How your clues help them escape

3 of 4

Plan out your site and any images you want to create. How will your clues fit into it? What will participants need to do? What will it look like? (Remember, your site can link out to clues on other sites like these.)

Do you want to include any interactive images? They’re images with links embedded in them. They’re fun and let your participants interact.See #3 in this post. If so, sketch it out below!

7

Now, go make all of the above! And then check …

  • Does it all play back to your theme/story?
  • Do your clues lead them to unlock and escape? (Or does a clue lead to a clue that leads to an unlock?)
  • Open a browser in incognito mode (IE: InPrivate mode). Does everything work when you’re not logged in? (If not, change sharing settings to (anyone with link can view.)
  • Did you make your locks? (#4 in this post)
  • Did you publish your site? (#5 in this post)
  • Did you go through it yourself to check it all?
