Rewilding Definition
Rewilding: A specific conservation and restoration strategy where the primary goal is to promote biodiversity and restore the ecological balance where they have been disrupted, degraded, or destroyed due to human activities.
Rewilding projects often involve reintroducing native species, restoring habitats, and creating wildlife corridors.

Why do we care about this issue?
We are losing Earth’s biodiversity at an alarming rate: Human 'development' has severely degraded our living planet. Despite the fact that humans represent only 0.01% of all life on this planet, our activities such as mining, deforestation, land clearing, and unsustainable food practices have created devastating impacts for wildlife and communities that coexist in harmony with them.
Now, only 4% of all mammals on the planet are wild, while 60% of all mammals are kept captive for human use (eg. "livestock"). 36% of mammals are humans.
It is also indigenous peoples and traditional communities that are protecting 80% of biodiversity on the planet and it’s time for all of us to join in.
It’s time to rewild our routines!

What’s the main message?
We want to show the world how we are supporting the rewilding & protection of life on Earth, and how our customers can be part of this through their self-care routine.
So what are we asking our retail teams to do?
There are so many wonderful stories linked to our products, it can be hard to know where to start!
That’s why we have some key ingredient buying stories that we want to highlight during our conversations with customers.
There’s plenty of opportunity to get creative and have loads of fun throughout the month with events and parties!
Retail Top Tip: Aim to weave our ethics into all consultations. As an activity, encourage team members to create routine- based slates featuring at least one star ingredient product.

The Lush Spring Prize is all about celebrating those who are leaving the world Lusher than they found it. There are 17 recipients this year, and space to highlight 5 in most shop windows. Recipient organisations are not connected to our supply chain, so they don’t supply ingredients to us. The Lush Spring Prize is purely philanthropic, about sharing Lush’s resource to best support the regenerative movements!

ABOUT SPRING PRIZE
In May 2023, the prize recipients of the fifth cycle of the Lush Spring Prize will be announced. The Spring Prize has always been run with a tone of celebration, and this fifth anniversary is a great opportunity to celebrate Regeneration, and the recipients of the prize, with our customers.
The Lush Spring Prize is a great example of how we redistribute Lush’s capital in a way that leaves the world Lusher than we found it.
We can inspire customers with the stories of prize recipients, inform customers how to make an impact with their shopping and invite them to learn with us.
With so much important information to share, we have created a double sided window to inspire, inform and invite.

REWILD YOUR ROUTINE
We don't just support regenerative movements through the Spring Prize. Where possible, we also support regenerative farmers through our ingredients Buying practices. The 'Rewild Your Routine' part of the window highlights some of these stories, showing how the work of our ingredients suppliers actually helps to rewild habitats and support biodiversity. Please note that this is separate from the Lush Spring Prize, and we do not purchase ingredients from Spring Prize recipients - instead we are celebrating their fantastic work in highlighting the relevance and importance of regenerative practice worldwide.
