How to signup for a JCU Zoom Account through Canvas

  1. Go to any of your courses and within the course navigation menu you will see the 'Zoom' link. Click Zoom

  • Zoom will send an email to your JCU email address. Open the email and activate your Zoom license.

How to schedule Zoom Meeting through Canvas

  1. Go to any of your courses and within the course navigation menu you will see the 'Zoom' link. Click Zoom
    1. If you don’t see Zoom button, please go to your course settings > under Navigation > Enable Zoom
  2. Click the Schedule a New Meeting button to display the Schedule a Meeting page.
  3. Fill the details of the meeting.
  4. If you like to record all your sessions, you can check the box to record zoom meetings in the cloud.

Download and install the Zoom client

  1. If a user does not already have Zoom downloaded to their device, when clicking to Start a Zoom meeting, the user will be prompted to download and run zoom.
  2. Click the download & run Zoom link. The package will download to your computer.
  3. Once downloaded, double click to open the package and continue through the steps.

Login to your Desktop Zoom Client

  1. Click Sign In with SSO.
  2. Enter johncarrolluniversity under company domain.
  3. Click Continue.
  4. You will be redirected to JCU’s single sign-on to sign in.
  5. After signing in, you will be redirected back to the Zoom Desktop Client.

Start a Zoom meeting

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Open Zoom Meetings

Configuration/Setup Zoom

  1. You can test your audio connection before joining by clicking the “Test Computer Audio” link. The audio preferences will open.
  2. Make sure unmute yourself in case your participants are not able to hear you.

How do I share my screen?

  1. To start "Screen Sharing" select "Share Screen" button located in your meeting tool bar.
  2. After selecting "Share Screen" located in your in-meeting tool bar. You can choose to share your "Desktop" or an "individual application/window".

How to record a Zoom Meeting

  1. Click the option to Record
  2. Hosts will see the following recording indicator in the top-left corner while recording is active.
  3. After the meeting has ended, Zoom will convert the recording so you can access the files.
