Kindergarten/Foundation/Prep and Year 1 Sample Literacy Timetable

*I do this part whole group, it acts as revision for the 1’s an I just extend them through the words I use. It worked well with this group. If the 1s need extending you could have them completing an independent activity at this time or extend them through adding in harder words (compound words). I have an example of a review differentiated for both 1’s and f (has words for both on the slide) in my foundation/ year 1 teachers Fb group here, in the files section.

Resources I use and my students are loving that you may like to save you time.(ctrl + click to follow link on click on image in slide show mode) In the planner I have underlined, linked and highlighted in blue to show these resources .

A few things to note

-We use Little Learners Love Literacy Scope and sequence.

-F = foundation, 1 = year 1’s

  • We fit a 3rd & 4th writing lesson in during the week after lunch (We follow the Writing Revolution methods for writing and follow the syntax project scope and sequence: https://thesyntaxproject2022.squarespace.com/syntaxlessons )
  • We use the (CK) core knowledge units for most of our reading lesson (We adapt the lessons to make them suitable for our context) We choose a theme per term that answers a big question and these units also cover our other learning areas eg Science, Humanities, Health and also through investigations. They are an amazing free resource with full units, books and resources to go with. You can check them out here: https://www.coreknowledge.org/curriculum/download-curriculum
