لِذلِكَ نَحْنُ أَيْضًا إِذْ لَنَا سَحَابَةٌ مِنَ الشُّهُودِ مِقْدَارُ هذِهِ مُحِيطَةٌ بِنَا، لِنَطْرَحْ كُلَّ ثِقْلٍ، وَالْخَطِيَّةَ الْمُحِيطَةَ بِنَا بِسُهُولَةٍ، وَلْنُحَاضِرْ بِالصَّبْرِ فِي الْجِهَادِ الْمَوْضُوعِ أَمَامَنَا،. «نَاظِرِينَ إِلَى رَئِيسِ الإِيمَانِ وَمُكَمِّلِهِ يَسُوعَ، الَّذِي مِنْ أَجْلِ السُّرُورِ الْمَوْضُوعِ أَمَامَهُ، احْتَمَلَ الصَّلِيبَ مُسْتَهِينًا بِالْخِزْيِ، فَجَلَسَ فِي يَمِينِ عَرْشِ اللهِ.» (عبرانيين 12:1–2)
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God (Heb 12: 1-2)

نَاظِرِينَ إِلَى رَئِيسِ الإِيمَانِ وَمُكَمِّلِهِ يَسُوعَ،الَّذِي مِنْ أَجْلِ السُّرُورِ الْمَوْضُوعِ أَمَامَهُ، احْتَمَلَ الصَّلِيبَ مُسْتَهِينًا بِالْخِزْيِ، فَجَلَسَ فِي يَمِينِ عَرْشِ اللهِ. ) عبرانيين ١٢: ٢ (�Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith,�who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross,�despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Voice in the Wilderness … Preparing the Way for Christ
«قَالَ: أَنَا صَوْتُ صَارِخٍ فِي الْبَرِّيَّةِ: قَوِّمُوا طَرِيقَ الرَّبِّ، كَمَا قَالَ إِشَعْيَاءُ النَّبِيُّ.» (يوحنا 1: 23)
“He said: ‘I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness:�“Make straight the way of the Lord,” as the prophet Isaiah said.’”(Joh 1: 23)
البرية هي مكان الهدوء، حيث يسمع القلب صوت الله بوضوح

يا يوحنا، كان ممكن تخدم في المدن أو الهياكل، ليه اخترت البرية؟
St. John, you could have preached in cities, but you chose the wilderness. Why?
البرية هي مكان الهدوء، حيث يسمع القلب صوت الله بوضوح
The wilderness is where hearts are stripped of noise
البرية تربي الإنسان على البساطة، وعلى الاعتماد على الله وحده ... التربة التي تنمو فيها التوبة.
The wilderness teaches simplicity, dependence, and silence , the soil where repentance grows.
ومن هناك خرجت الكلمة
And from there came the word
يا يوحنا، كان ممكن تخدم في المدن أو الهياكل، ليه اخترت البرية؟
St. John, you could have preached in cities, but you chose the wilderness. Why?
«فِي أَيَّامِ رَئِيسِ الْكَهَنَةِ حَنَّانَ وَقَيَافَا، كَانَتْ كَلِمَةُ اللهِ عَلَى يُوحَنَّا بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا فِي الْبَرِّيَّةِ.»�(لوقا 3: 2)�“While Annas and Caiaphas were high priests,�the word of God came to John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.” (Luke 3:2)
«كَمَا هُوَ مَكْتُوبٌ فِي سِفْرِ أَقْوَالِ إِشَعْيَاءَ النَّبِيِّ: صَوْتُ صَارِخٍ فِي الْبَرِّيَّةِ: أَعِدُّوا طَرِيقَ الرَّبِّ، اصْنَعُوا سُبُلَهُ مُسْتَقِيمَةً.» (لو 3: 4)�“As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying: ‘The voice of one crying in the wilderness:�“Prepare the way of the Lord; Make His paths straight.”’” (Luke 3:4)
التوبة مش مجرد ندم أو دموع، لكنها تغيير حقيقي في الاتجاه
Repentance is not just tears , it’s transformation.

You often spoke of repentance. What does repentance mean for us today?
هي اللي بتنضّف الطريق جوا القلب علشان المسيح يدخل.�It clears the stones and thorns from the path of the heart so that Christ may enter.
قلت للناس : اصنعوا أثمارًا تليق بالتوبة.» (لوقا 3: 8)
I said to the people: “Bear fruits worthy of repentance.” (Luke 3:8)
كنت تتكلم كثيرًا عن التوبة. ما معنى التوبة لنا اليوم؟
You often spoke of repentance. What does repentance mean for us today?
يعني التوبة لازم يظهر أثرها في حياتنا.
True repentance isn’t in words, but in change.
لما الوادي يمتلئ بالتواضع، والجبل العالي يتواضع، والمكان المعوجّ يستقيم ، ساعتها كل إنسان يشوف خلاص الله.�When the valleys of despair are filled and the mountains of pride are lowered, then all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
علشان الرسالة تبقى أقوى لما الانسان بيكون حرّ.�Because the message is stronger when the messenger is free.
لبسك بسيط جدًا، وطعامك بسيط. ليه اخترت حياة القسوة والبساطة دي؟
You lived with so much simplicity camel’s hair, locusts, honey. Why such a basic life?
أنا جاي مش علشان أُظهِر نفسي، لكن علشان أُظهِر المسيح.
I am coming not to show myself, but to show Christ.
البساطة تخلي الصوت أوضح، والقلب أنقى، والرسالة توصل
Detachment made my voice clearer, my heart lighter, and my purpose pure.
لقد دعيت لكي انقص، حتى يزداد المسيح.�I was called to decrease, so Christ might increase.
لبسك بسيط جدًا، وطعامك بسيط. ليه اخترت حياة القسوة والبساطة دي؟

ينبغي أن ذلك يزيد، وأني أنا أنقص.» (يوحنا 3 : 30)

الحق لازم يُقال، حتى لو كان الثمن غالي
Truth is not negotiable
«لأَنَّ يُوحَنَّا كَانَ يَقُولُ لِهِيرُودُسَ: لاَ يَحِلُّ أَنْ تَكُونَ لَكَ امْرَأَةُ أَخِيكَ.» (مرقس 6: 18) �“For John had said to Herod, ‘It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.’” (Mark 6:18)
ما خفتش لما واجهت الملك هيرودس وقلت له الحق؟ ما كنتش خايف من الموت؟
You were fearless in confronting sin , even before kings. Didn’t you fear rejection or death?
صحيح سجنوني، لكن صوت الحق ما يسكتش.
They could silence my voice, but not the message
الوحدة والسجن ما كانتش النهاية، كانت جزء من الرسالة.�Every prophet faces loneliness, but the Word of God was my companion.
ما خفتش لما واجهت الملك هيرودس وقلت له الحق؟ ما كنتش خايف من الموت؟
You were fearless in confronting sin , even before kings. Didn’t you fear rejection or death?
أحسن أفقد رأسي من إني أفقد ضميري.�It’s better to lose your head than lose your integrity.
كنت فرحان لما سمعت صوته، لأن فرحي اكتمل لما هو ظهر.
I was happy when I heard His voice, because my joy was complete when He appeared
قلت إنك “صديق العريس”. يعني إيه الكلام ده؟
You called yourself the friend of the Bridegroom. What did that mean to you?
تكتمل فرحة الصديق عندما يظهر العريس.�The friend’s joy is complete when the Groom appears.

العريس هو المسيح، وأنا كنت مجرد الصديق اللي بيجهّز له الطريق
The Groom is the Christ Himself, and I was just the friend who prepared the way for Him
رسالتي كانت أجهّز القلوب ليه، مش أجذبها لنفسي
My mission was to prepare His bride , the people , for His coming
قلت إنك “صديق العريس”. يعني إيه الكلام ده؟
You called yourself the friend of the Bridegroom. What did that mean to you?
«مَنْ لَهُ الْعَرُوسُ فَهُوَ الْعَرِيسُ، وَأَمَّا صَدِيقُ الْعَرِيسِ الَّذِي يَقِفُ وَيَسْمَعُهُ، فَيَفْرَحُ فَرَحًا مِنْ أَجْلِ صَوْتِ الْعَرِيسِ. إِذًا فَهذَا فَرَحِي قَدْ كَمَلَ.» (يو 3: 29)
“He who has the bride is the bridegroom;�but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him,�rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is fulfilled.” (John 3:29)

Faith in the One I proclaimed
إزاي قدرت تكمّل وتحتمل البرية والسجن والاستشهاد؟
What sustained you through the wilderness, the prison, and finally, martyrdom?
كل خطوة كانت بنعمته
My endurance was not mine; it was His strength in me

لما سألت: «هل أنت هو الآتي أم ننتظر آخر؟» جاوبني بأعماله: العمي يبصرون، والمفلوجون يمشون. (لوقا 7: 20- 22 )
Even when I sent messengers to ask, “Are You the One?” , He reminded me by His works: the blind see, the lame walk. (Luke 7:20–22)
هوذا حمل الله الذي يرفع خطية العالم. (يوحنا 1: 29)�مش أنا، بل هو. فرحي يكمل لما تتبعوه أنتم.
Behold, the Lamb of God (Joh 1: 29). Not me, but Him.�My joy is complete when you follow Him.
يا يوحنا، صوتك لسه بيدوي في قلوبنا. بتدعونا نهيّئ الطريق، ونقوّم المعوجّ في حياتنا، ونعيش التوبة الحقيقية. إنت علمتنا إن العظمة الحقيقية مش إن الناس تشوفنا، لكن إنهم يشوفوا المسيح من خلالنا.
John, your voice still echoes across the ages, calling us to prepare the way, to make straight our hearts, and to bear fruits worthy of repentance.You remind us that true greatness is not in being seen, but in pointing others to Christ.

كَانَ هُوَ السِّرَاجَ الْمُوقَدَ الْمُنِيرَ، وَأَنْتُمْ أَرَدْتُمْ أَنْ تَبْتَهِجُوا بِنُورِهِ سَاعَةً. (يوحنا 5: 35 )
“He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing for a time to rejoice in his light.” (John 5:35)
