Philosophy and Beliefs

Our purpose is to provide a safe, supportive and fun atmosphere. Track and Field is a lifelong sport and we hope to foster long-term enjoyment in the sport. Our goal is to use track and field to teach life lessons about character and hard work.

Academically- Remain academically eligible. If there are issues, communicate with your parents, teachers and coaches to get back on track. We follow MSHSL policy.

Athletically- Keeping healthy by taking care of yourself (diet, sleep, hydration), coming to practice or a meet physically and mentally prepared. Compete at a high level each meet. Take advantage of all opportunities.

In the Community- Give back to the community by volunteering at jr high/elementary track meets.

While wearing Ranger gear, act like a Ranger.

If there is an issue

  • Talk to captains first
  • Talk with event coach
  • Talk with head coach
  • If still not solved, meeting with parent, athlete, and coach.
  • If this does not solve the issue we can get Mr. Hennen involved.

*We require athletes to work to solve problems first. We would like to encourage athletes to advocate for themselves and communicate if there is an issue.

-Some meets have time schedules, some go with a “rolling schedule”

-Rolling schedule means they follow order of events, when one event is finished the next one starts

-Prelims and Finals: Some meets have prelims and finals. If so, the top 9 from prelims advance to finals (conference, sections, state)

How lineups are determined

-The goal is to have every athlete compete once per week (sometimes it doesn’t work out but that is the goal)

-Varsity meets/Limited Entry meets have a limit of entries per event. Standard is 3 per individual event and 1 relay team

-We work towards May to put our best lineups for True Team, Conference, Sections
