Refreshing the Strategy for a Digital Public Service action plan

  • The scope of this project is to refresh the Strategy for a Digital Public Service (SDPS) action plan as well as to consider other factors required for successful delivery of the SDPS (eg a shared implementation approach).
  • When it was launched on November 2019, the Strategy set the direction and work programme to develop a modern public service.
  • It takes all of us working across agency siloes to achieve a modern, agile and adaptive public service that operates as a unified whole.
  • It is now time to refresh the Strategy’s action plan, but first we want to understand the expectations and needs of agencies and key stakeholders involved in the delivery of the Strategy.
  • Once we have a good understanding of expectations and needs from the refreshed action plan, we will develop a minimum viable product (MVP) version of the refreshed plan and then iterate that with agencies.

Purpose of this workshop

  • We are running this workshop to understand your expectations and needs from a refreshed action plan to implement the Strategy for a Digital Public Service.
  • We want to make sure that we develop a refreshed action plan that supports your agencies to achieve their strategic digital transformation initiatives.
  • This is your opportunity to influence and contribute to a strategic plan that will guide public service digital transformation activity for the next three years.
  • Once we have a good understanding of collective expectations and needs from the refreshed action plan, we will develop a minimum viable product (MVP) version of the refreshed plan and then iterate that with agencies.

Digital:

  • Much more than new technologies and improving IT services.
  • Doing things differently, using new mindsets, skills and data, as well as technologies that have led to the development of new ways of working with which we are now so familiar.

  • We will test and iterate the MVP refreshed action plan with stakeholders before seeking approval for the action plan
  • Please send through any additional thoughts or digital transformation collateral to strategy@digital.govt.nz
  • Let us know if you’d like to be included in the Test and Iterate phase of engagement. Email strategy@digital.govt.nz and indicate whether you’d like to be kept informed or be involved.
