Book Clubs: to deepen comprehension and foster a love of reading

Book clubs offer students a collaborative space to engage with texts beyond the instructional setting. Through discussion and reflection, students practice higher-order comprehension strategies such as inference, synthesis, and text-to-world connections. The social nature of book clubs also strengthens students’ ability to articulate ideas, consider multiple perspectives, and build community around reading. For students in intervention, book clubs provide a valuable chance to experience reading as joyful and empowering.

Cafeteria Protocols

School Aides supervise the lunch periods daily and are responsible for the rooftop and cafeteria.

School Aides are responsible for a group of students/tables each lunch period to assist with:�-overall supervision of students�-ensure students throw out garbage �-assist younger students with eating/opening food and drinks

Students sit with their class at their assigned tables for organization and are allowed to socialize with their classmates.��Students are asked to quiet down during times of announcements for clean up, gather belongings, and make sure they are focused on their food, particularly for the younger grades.

Cafeteria staff can only encourage students to eat, not force or demand.
