Why teach low-level?

The Little Man Computer

Because that is how the GREATS taught computers!

(And by GREATS, I mean great as in great-grandparents and not great as in better than anyone else)

CS Ed Week & Semester in review

my CSHS did mini coding tutorials to our Ms

I have been doing an hour of code with my students the last couple of days too. It went well.

Microsoft MakeCode

MoralMachine.net; ethics and bias in AI (a MIT offering)

No access to code.org led to discovery of CSFirst

I like codehs but I feel it lacks the hands on approach and group work from code.org

I use the sandbox from CodeHs instead of using repl.it (sandbox does not require access via curriculum)

same block coding seems very elementary to our upperclassmen

Trolley Problem

Suggested Discussion Questions:

  1. What highlights can you share from CSEd Week?
  2. Resources you’ve used this past semester
  3. What CS challenges along with victories can you share?
