In the Summer of 2016, Mr. Pablo Felix (Co-Owner) decided to act upon his dream to one day own a full-service restaurant. After visiting a restaurant concept in Chicago, where the menu feature was a seafood boil, Mr. Felix’s passion was sparked and he sought to research the concept for himself as a prospective venture.
Mr. Felix recognized the need for additional restaurant resources and contacted an active restaurateur Mr. Robert Blalock (Co-Owner). Mr. Blalock enlisted Mr. Paul Griffith (Co-Owner & Tennessee State University graduate) a college friend, entrepreneur and career accountant/auditor.
The idea not only appeared to represent a viable business venture relative to entering the full-service restaurant space with a seafood boil concept, but also appeared to be led in a manner that contained some noticeable but intangible cultural “magic”. The trio embarked on the development of their own seafood boil restaurant concept from scratch.
In April 2017, the construction of SMASHIN’ CRAB’s legacy location, at 8910 Bandera Road – San Antonio, TX was complete and subsequently open for business. Three additional locations have been added in San Antonio with another in Hendersonville, TN (opened November 2020) taking the total number to five Smashin’ Crab locations.

This year marks the debut of the Smashin’ Crab Music Festival! Join us in celebrating fresh seafood and local musicians at our Hendersonville location on September 26.
In the last five years, our franchise has grown exponentially. we now have the opportunity to not only provide delicious seafood to Tennesseans, but showcase local and national talent.
Our goal is to use our platform to give back to the community. As TSU graduates, we understand the importance of HBCUs and the value they bring to our community.
Proceeds from the first annual Smashin’ Crab Music Fest will be donated to Tennessee State University to continue their mission of transforming lives, preparing a diverse population of leaders, and contributing to economic and community development.

Smashin’ Crab is excited to launch an inaugural, one-day music festival featuring some of the middle Tennessee area’s best musicians. The festival will be from 1:00pm - 9:00pm, Center Stage at The Streets of Indian Lakes, right in front of Smashin’ Crab (300 Indian Lake Blvd., Hendersonville, TN 37075).
The confirmed line-up will also include vendors and activities for festival guests.

Our Cajun-inspired seafood selections reflect the history of not only Creole flavor, but the rich roots of Jazz and Blues music.
With New Orleans being the birthplace of Jazz, we were inspired by their annual New Orleans Jazz Festival that has been bringing music and seafood together for over 40 years. We decided to bring this powerful combination home to Hendersonville and
provide an unforgettable Southern
experience for locals and
travelers alike.
With classic dishes like fresh
seafood boils, po’boys and crawfish
etouffee, the flavors are almost as
delectable as the acts on stage.
