Giving lesson feedback
Hello First Grade families,
Please don’t feel that your child has to complete all of the activities in the lesson. I would, however, appreciate it if you could connect in some way -- come to the Tuesday 11:30-12:30 Specialist Office Hours via Zoom, send a photo, video, voice memo, email message, help your child to fill out a Google Form etc. If you’d like to see previous lessons you can find them on the Nixon Music website. Thanks, Mrs. Dooley
SING
Watch the video for a hello and to practice rhythm and beat.

SING
Click the play button below to sing along with “This land is your land.” If you have a printer, you may want to print the words.

MOVE
This past week we celebrated Memorial Day. Unfortunately, there was no opportunity to watch a parade in person. But you can make your own parade! Grab any kind of instrument (or make your own) and march around your home to the music of “You’re a Grand Old Flag!”

LISTEN
“You’re a Grand Old Flag” is a favorite American patriotic song. It was written more than 100 years ago by George M. Cohan. He was an actor and singer who started performing with his family when he was a child. He also wrote many songs such as “Give My Regards to Broadway” and “The Yankee Doodle Boy.”

LISTEN
Watch the video to hear a sing-aloud of “You’re a Grand Old Flag” featuring illustrations by the famous American painter Norman Rockwell.

BONUS TRACK
Listen to the composer George M. Cohan sing “You’re a Grand Old Flag.” The recording sounds scratchy because it is very old!
