Hit Your Target

Artists set goals for themselves to improve their art knowledge, skills, techniques, and creativity. They start with a big goal. Then they plan smaller goals that will help them achieve their big goal. These small ladder steps add up to success over time! First, watch the video below.

Directions For Writing An Art Goal:

  1. Watch the video. Begin with paper and pencil.
  2. In the top center of your paper, write your big art goal using big letters. What is something you want to learn more about or get better at in art?

(Example: I want to learn how to draw realistic people.)

  • Under your big art goal, answer these 3 questions:
    • Who can help?
    • What do I need to do?
    • When do I need to do it?
  • At the bottom of your paper, brainstorm what will get in the way of achieving your big goal and how will you overcome it? Write at least 1 complete sentence.
  • Display your goal so you can refer back to it.
  • Respond on with a photo of your Art Goal on display.
