Proposal document and task force

  • The Overleaf link, https://www.overleaf.com/3273138331gffnrsnjmcqy (this link has full edit access)
  • We aim to write 20-30 pages.
  • By the end of this meeting, (hopefully) we will have names for all chapters.
  • If you want to contribute, please add your name on the author list and the section where you want to contribute.

Simulations - workflow

The best way we came up since the last meeting and from extensive discussions w. A. Kieslev:

  • EPIC official software stack

  • With “eicrecon.root” & access to full reco’d tracks, apply delphes-like parametrization for PID.
  • We can make use of the official simulation campaign files (single particle, DIS, SIDIS, etc.)

EICrecon reader code + pfRICH smearing code

This code allows one to read the eicrecon trees and access all information, e.g., tracks

In addition, this can apply pfRICH PID parameterization with diff. configs (under /pfRICH-configs/)

Was just written yesterday, so readme and so on are not complete yet.

Example for single particles

File:S3/eictest/EPIC/RECO/22.10.0/epic_brycecanyon/SINGLE/pi-/10GeV/130to177deg/pi-_10GeV_130to177deg.0006.eicrecon.tree.edm4eic.root

  • Pion at backward angle with 10 GeV.
  • Tracking seems to have low efficiency, will have to discuss with other experts.
  • pfRICH PID (parametrization) works!

Summary & to-dos

  • I will update/improve the code a bit, but very soon will be ready to use by anyone. From here, it should be trivial and pretty quick. Easy to distribute to different tasks/topics.
  • In parallel, we should discuss what plots to make and in what order (importance), e.g.,
    • DIS events, background pi/e, etc?
    • SIDIS events, HF D, Lambda, etc.
    • Jets… (not sure full simulation status, Brian?)

(Any suggestions are welcomed)

  • Goals:
    • by next week, we should have some physics results, if not all. (Based on the default pfRICH now)
    • 2 weeks from now, we should iterate with different pfRICH configs.
