Save Your Image to Drive

In google slides follow these steps:

  1. File
  2. Download
  3. JPEG Image (Current Slide)
  4. Put somewhere you can find it (e.g. desktop, google drive folder etc.)

Want to design your own?

Google Slides

Put any image in google slides and save it as a JPEG to engrave on any engravable material.

Canva

Get your own education account for free on canva.com. This site gives you access to thousands of beautiful designs and images.

Learning Experience Design Tips:

  • Have students save their images in one place (like a google drive folder) where you can easily access all of their images from a District Secure Network Device.
  • Make sure the image is a JPEG or PNG to Engrave
  • Pro Tip: Use www.remove.bg to remove any unwanted backgrounds from your images.

Step 2:

Prepare Laser Cutter

Check Water Level

  1. Make sure there is water in the water pump.
  2. Make sure lid is closed tightly when done.

Level the Laser

  • Insert the material you are printing on in the laser cutter.
  • Grab the Level (Black disk)
  • Level the laser to the appropriate distance from the material.
  • Tighten the laser.
  • Put laser in top left position

Step 3:

Turn on the Laser Cutter and Filtration System

Turn it On

  • Turn on the Laser Cutter
  • Turn on the filtration system
  • Let machine load
  • Machine will not work if the filtration system is not on, water pump is not working, air flow is not working or lid is not shut. (Will be in a red color at the top of the screen if they are not working)

Enter IP Address to District Device

  • If the software doesn't load, keep refreshing the URL, it will eventually load.
  • Must be on SLCUSD Secure Network to connect via Wifi.
  • Do not connect to IP address on more than one device at the same time.

If the machine does not capture currently, turn the laser cutter off, return the laser to the upper left corner of the machine and turn the laser cutter machine back on.

  • Make sure your image is sized to your material, you can check this by running the perimeter.
  • If you do not see your material, you can add it to the list.
  • You can change the grayscale, black and white threshold, depth, speed and inversion settings to better fit your needs..

Review Print

Review the Print

  • Absolute means where you have it set, relative means in that general area.
  • Double check that the material is correct.
  • You must press all 3 buttons and go (2 times) before it will print.
  • Do not leave laser unattended.

  • The estimated time for your engraving will show up on the LCD screen and your computer.

  • Make sure the machine is off.
  • Make sure there is not debris or sap left behind.
  • Do not spray directly into the machine.
  • Remove the honeycomb before cleaning.
