Draft Site level objective : For nature

  • Secure a minimum of 90% of the site as semi-natural habitats in good ecological condition
  • Maintain and enhance habitat corridors to connecting and nearby habitat.
  • To work collaboratively with adjoining and nearby landowners in pursuing biodiversity objectives.
  • Adopt natural flood management practices : creation of woody debris dams
  • Developing areas as wood pasture including scrub and rougher pasture. 
  • Enhance the mosaic of habitats with a degree of dynamic, shifting scrub habitat. 
  • As habitat improve, promote the site’s potential for species reintroduction
  • Increased storage of carbon in soil and vegetation.

Wildflower meadows

  • Species rich grasslands have co-evolved with traditional farming over the last 6000 years.
  • They are capable of supporting healthy populations of insects, birds, bats, reptiles and many other animals
  • Wildflowers need to grow in nutrient poor soil
