Intro to Quick Writes and LBOE

In every chapter there are two items that you need to complete. This presentation will explain both.

Quick Writes

Quick writes are two or three paragraph activities we will complete every week. I use these for several reasons. The first is grammatical practice. This is a perfect opportunity for me to look at your grammar. A second benefit is the use of vocabulary. Last I like to share interesting topics with you. With the quick writes I get to find out more about you. These should not be difficult to complete.

What is a Quick Write

A quick write will be a two or three paragraph response to a video, short writing or topic. You will not need to research nor make a plan to write these. You will need to use three vocabulary words in your writing. These words do need to be highlighted.

A Little Bit of Everything

This week we will start LBOE. These are available in Canvas and are set up to be seen one a day Mon-Thurs. All you need to to is read or watch the video or info. They are all short and quick.

Purpose

There are several items that this assignment will focus on.

Competency 1: The student will produce writing.

Competency 3: The student will proofread, edit, and revise

Competency 5: The student will conduct research

A Little Bit of Everything

A theme of this class is to know a little bit about everything. Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday you will have an interesting event, hero or a villain.

At the end of the week pick the one you find most interesting and write one paragraph about the person or event and then a paragraph with your reaction.

Note

You do not have to write a lot. This should not be a painful assignment. Three of four sentences per event or person is enough. Your reaction should also be a few sentences. However please
