History and Background

- Tom Ness is the inventor and founder of the company

- Was assisting with invasives removal in the S.F. Bay area in late 1980's when he came up with the idea

- First prototype was developed in his garage

- Demand for product has been steady and increasing

- Used esp by organizations dedicated to trail restoration, land stewardship, and habitat restoration

Operation

- Easiest to use on woody shrubs and small trees with vertical stems;

- All manual operation

- Jaws of tool are placed around the woody stem (jaws open when tool is pushed forward);

- When the jaws can't close any more, the tool is pulled back and will begin to rock on its fulcrum, uprooting the plant;

- Soft soil may require placement of board underneath fulcrum to assist in bracing.
