What is the �League of Women Voters?

The League is a nonpartisan organization. We were founded in 1920 to empower voters and defend democracy. The League is open and welcomes everyone of any age, gender, or political affiliation. There are 700+ Leagues across the USA.

Our local League is the League of Women Voters of Arlington Heights, (LWVAH), and serves Arlington Hts., Buffalo Grove, Wheeling, Elk Grove, Mount Prospect,

and Prospect Heights.

What Is Stroll To The Polls?

A collaborative effort between LWVAH and High School District 214 to:

                  • Engage students in the democratic process
                  • Empower voters
                  • Defend democracy by increasing voter turnout

Engage, enable, and support you, our future voters, in talking with local residents about registering to vote and making a plan to vote

Why Does Voter Turnout Matter?

  • Democracy is not a spectator sport

  • Voting rights secure all other rights

  • The leaders we elect affect our daily lives

Why Does Voter Turnout Matter?

  • Over 40% of the registered voters in precincts near D214 HS did not vote in the 2018 midterm election - Pritzker (D.) beat Rauner (R.) by 16% of the vote
  • This June, a $75,000,000 D25 referendum passed by only 50 votes - $6,000 commitment over 20 years for a $400,000 home

LWVAH developed voting information cards for and route maps of relatively low voter turnout areas

Teachers and LWV members are here to encourage your engagement and answer questions

Using the maps and cards, you ‘Stroll’ our neighborhoods, talk with voters, and distribute voting information to make it easier to register, get

informed on issues and candidates, and vote!
