Testing Integrity and Security

  • 4 Reasons test security is imperative
    • Maintain data integrity
    • Protect test content
    • Uphold professional ethics
    • Ensures validity of student results

  • Test Site Coordinator must actively ensure security protocols - including visiting all testing classrooms

  • Sites subject to audit CDE or District Office

  • Tests may be invalidated if procedures are not followed

22 of 43

AAO Site Audits

School sites are also subject to audit by the California Department of Education

Purpose

  • Support school sites with testing
  • Ensure test security and protect the integrity of CAASPP and ELPAC assessments
  • Responsibility of Local Educational Agencies (LEAs)

PADLET

Process

  • Some schools randomly selected for audit
  • Contacted by AAO staff to schedule a site visit during testing
  • Classroom visits during testing
  • Follow up as needed

23 of 43

95% Participation Rate

23

Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires states to test at least 95 percent of all students and student groups

  • Less than 95% participation by your students will lower your site’s overall score on the California School Dashboard (CA will assign the Lowest Obtainable Scale Score (LOSS) for each student needed to bring participation rate of the school, district, and/or student group to 95%)
  • Spring 2025 assessment results will be reflected on the Fall 2025 CA School Dashboard (released in Fall/Winter 2025)
