Homework:

Homework should be done daily. There are three components:

  • Reading 15 minutes
  • Basic facts practising
  • Spelling words

Please help your child with time management systems to ensure they complete their homework each night.

Being prepared:

We ask for your support in ensuring that your child has the following in their bag:

- book bag with homework book, reader and library books

- signed permission slips

It helps the students prepare for the day if they are in school between 8.30am and 8.45am and ready to start at 8.55am. Students can come into classrooms when the bell rings at 8.30am.

Students arriving earlier than 8.30am will need to wait in the junior area.

Food policy:

Healthy eating is promoted at our school. Students are not allowed to share any food or drink with others. Fizzy drinks, juice, lollies/ chocolates are not allowed in school. Elm Park School is a litter-free school. All lunch box rubbish will be sent home. Lunches can be ordered from the lunch room, either online or at the beginning of the day.

Library:

Your child will visit the school library every week. Please ensure that the borrowed book is returned promptly, before the next visit to the library. We trust that the library books that are taken home will be looked after.

Uniforms:

Please ensure that your child is in the correct school uniform and that all items of clothing are clearly named, hat and shoes included. School shoes need to be plain BLACK. Socks need to be long, navy, school socks only.

Students in incorrect school uniform will need a note from parents.

Illness & Overseas holidayIf your child is unwell or has a doctor’s appointment please remember to let your child’s teacher and the office know.

If your family has organised a holiday during school time, please send an email to the teacher and the office notifying how long your child will be away for.

Activity payment:

The activity payment is $100 per year which you can pay in full, termly or contact the office to arrange a payment plan. This amount covers online learning, class resourcing and costs of trips and/or groups visiting our school.
