Definition of Title-One

Title I provides federal funding to schools to help students who are low achieving or at most risk of falling behind.

Title I is allocated to schools based on the percentage of student receiving free/reduced lunch.

Schools with a percentage of at least 40% are eligible for a schoolwide program.

Schoolwide Means:

The school uses Title I funds to upgrade the entire educational program of the school.

Title I funds are used to serve all children in order to raise academic achievement.

Title I funds will be used to provide additional assistance to all students who experience difficulties in meeting the State’s performance targets.

Summary:

Leadership teams gather and organize academic, behavioral, attendance and perception data to determine best practices for our students, staff, families, and community. The data is used to address strengths and areas of growth.

Focus Goals:

  • The percentage of students in 11th and 12th grade who have completed a postsecondary option will increase from 37% in August 2024 to 50% in May 2026.

  • Increase the percentage of 9th grade students who pass Algebra I and English I from 76.7% in SY 24-25 to 84% by May 2026.

  • Increase the ELA (Eng. 13.1->13.6, Reading 14->14.5, Writing 4.7->4.8) and Math ACT subscore (14.1->14.6) from SY 24-25 to SY 25-26.

How can you be involved?

  • Parent & Family Engagement Opportunities:

NWC is looking for participants in a schoolwide PTO. Please contact Mr. Ruzzoli@mwruzzoli@okcps.org , or Asenat Salas @ asalas@okcps.org for information. To start a PTO we need to choose a president and secretary.

  • RIGHT TO REQUEST MEETINGS

Upon the request of parents, the school must provide opportunities for regular meetings for parents to formulate suggestions and to participate, as appropriate, in decisions about the education of their children. The school must respond to any such suggestions as soon as practicably possible.

Assessment: �How will we measure progress?

  • Data sources that will be used will be benchmarks, school report cards, common formative assessments, NWEA MAPS scores, ACT scores, WIDA assessments, 11th grade science and history assessments, student, staff, and family surveys, department meetings, PLC agendas, attendance reports, discipline, special education reports and ethnicity reports via mastery connect. These sources will be used to determine analysis and positive plans moving forward at Northwest Classen High School.
