PERSONAL SNAPSHOT

I have loved service and making a positive difference from my earliest memories of helping my 2nd grade teacher tidy up the room and mentoring a younger student with learning disabilities while in grade school. I have always been a visionary with big dreams, and ‘creating’ is my happy place– programs, webpages, initiatives. You will rarely find me without my computer on my lap. I keep it with me ‘just in case’.

My hobbies include music (piano and singing), reading (I own thousands of books) and travel. My travels have taken me all over Europe several times, Israel, Korea, and all over the United States and Canada. I have 8 children, including 4 bonus children from a second marriage, 25 grandchildren, and a 99.9% perfect husband. I am undoubtedly the most spoiled wife on the planet.

Professional SNAPSHOT

I have always been an entrepreneur at heart. I have spent most of my career developing programs and businesses focused on serving youth and families in both volunteer and paid positions. I have started a number of businesses and a non-profit organization.

I am a lifelong learner and have completed training in a wide variety of fields including mediation, the body talk modality, QPR training and a wide variety of programs focused on strengthening families and youth. I am also securities licensed and life licensed

My volunteer service includes 20+ year with PTA including serving on the State Board, running a mentoring group, serving as a Chamber Ambassador for 2 different chambers, and serving a combined 150+ years on more than 25 different community boards. I also served as the Director of the Cache Valley Volunteer Center for 7 years.

I have been a speaker and presenter at numerous conferences at a local, state and national level. The topics have varied depending on the field I was focused on at the time.

Current projects

My Discovery Destination!: Develop programs designed to strengthen families and build resilience in youth by encouraging families to spend quality time together; empower parents to become prevention specialists in their own homes. In addition to the core Discovery Family Adventures we also have programs for schools and parent organizations.

Discovery Hunts: A company under the umbrella of My Discovery Destination!, we produce and sell Ribbon Week Hunts, Core Standards Hunts and Hunts for current key topics.

Financial Advising: I am securities licensed and life licensed. I help people achieve financial freedom through developing solid financial habits.

RGS Properties: I own a number of properties with my husband, Rick Griffiths.

Long Term Goals

Be an engaged grandmother and have a positive influence with my children and grandchildren
I want to develop My Discovery Destination! into a national network of franchises that bring communities together to focus on strengthening families and building resilience in youth
Use the network to create financially independent families by providing other entrepreneurs with tools and resources to help them build successful businesses
Leave a legacy of being a lifelong learner and making a positive impact for youth and families

Intro

I’d like to introduce you to Sharilee Griffiths with My Discovery Destination! Sharilee runs a prevention program that is focused on strengthening families and building resilience in youth. This program started as a summer program, but was quickly recognized as an ideal way to help families bond and build protective factors into normal daily life. Working with local Health Departments and other coalitions, the My Discovery Destination! team coordinates the Discovery Family coalition.

Sharilee believes in entrepreneurial endeavors and is focused on utilizing the My Discovery Destination! network to help other families achieve financial independence by helping them be successful with their entrepreneurial endeavors, learn how to manage their finances, and pass healthy financial habits on to their children.
