2nd helper

23 of 36

23

John 14:16 I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, so that He may be with you forever; 17 the Helper is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him; but you know Him because He remains with you and will be in you.

2nd helper

  • To help us to return to the good and beautiful life that God intended
  • The 2nd helper is the Spirit of truth (the truth of God’s heart)

24 of 36

24

John 16:5 “But now I am going to Him who sent Me; and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’ 6 But because I have said these things to you, grief has filled your heart. 7 But I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I am leaving; for if I do not leave, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.

2nd helper

The truth of God’s heart will replace the grief in our heart

25 of 36

25

John 16:8 And He, when He comes, will convict the world regarding sin, and righteousness, and judgment:

The truth of God’s heart

It will convict the world with regards to

sin (1), righteousness (2) and judgement (3)

26 of 36

26

John 16:9 regarding sin, because they do not believe in Me;

  1. Regarding “sin” :

The pattern of the world

Our heart will accuse us of our sin

The truth of God’s heart

In Christ, God has forgiven ALL of our sins

Therefore, we should not grieve and feel condemned anymore

27 of 36

27

1 John 3:19 We will know by this that we are of the truth, and will set our heart at ease before Him, 20 that if our heart condemns us, that God is greater than our heart, and He knows all things. 21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; 22 and whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight.

In our sins, the authority to decide whether we should be condemned or forgiven :

  • is not with our heart as an accuser
  • but it is with our God as the judge

In Christ, God has totally forgiven us

Therefore, we can be at ease

28 of 36

28

John 16:10 and regarding righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you no longer are going to see Me;

Mat 6:33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you.

  1. Regarding “righteousness” :

The pattern of the world

We need to be righteous to enter God’s kingdom

The truth of God’s heart

In Christ, God has forgiven us and therefore made us righteous to enter His kingdom. On earth as well as in heaven

29 of 36

29

John 16:11 and regarding judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

Mat 11:28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

  1. Regarding “judgement” :

The pattern of the world

Thru our knowledge of good and evil, religion will judge the people around us as being “our burden”

The truth of God’s heart

God wants to love and bless people around us thru us. Therefore it is “His burden”. No more “our burden”

30 of 36

30

  1. Our heart is at ease, knowing that God has forgiven our sin, so that we do not feel condemned anymore
  2. In Christ, God has forgiven us so that we have become righteous to enter His kingdom.
  3. The people around us is not our burden, but it is an opportunity for God’s heart in us, to love and bless them. It is “God’s burden”

This is God’s heart in us

31 of 36

31

  1. We know that God has made us holy

So that our heart does not condemn us anymore

  1. We know that God has blessed us with His kingdom of heaven

By making us righteous to enter His kingdom

  1. We know that God loves the people around us thru us

Therefore, the burden is His, not ours. We can rest

This is God’s heart in us

32

Mat 3:17 and behold, a voice from the heavens said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
