Why Paid Ads Don't Work For Most
Paid ads don't work for 99% of businesses, not because of their offer or service or anything to do with their actual business…
But because they don't have an actual, proper sales funnel.
This isn't Ecommerce. People don't click on our ad, look at our landing page and buy our product.
Treating our ads the same way is a fatal, but extremely common mistake.
This misunderstanding about how B2B ads work is the cause of more wasted ad spend than anything else in the world.
In B2B, the ad is only one part of the funnel. It is the start, not the end.
If you don't understand this, you will never make it with paid ads in B2B.
We will go over all of the different types of funnels, how they work, and hopefully help you decide which one you should choose.
Types of Funnels
There are many different types of ad funnels that you can use, but we are going to talk about four main ones that work the best for this type of thing:

Paid vs. Free Funnels
The two main categories and "schools of thoughts" with paid ad funnels are free vs. paid.
Basically, are your ads promoting a paid product or a free product?
Both are valid. Both work. In fact, most people should have both.
An example of a free product funnel would be when you advertise a free lead magnet, get them into your funnel, then convert them down the line.
An example of a paid product funnel would be when you advertise a paid product, hope the revenue from sales covers the cost of your ad spend, and then convert them down the line.
Again, both of these options are valid.
The obvious difference between the two is that you can get way more leads for the same ad spend when you are advertising a free product, but you are not making any revenue from sales.
When you are advertising a paid product, you will get way less total leads, but you will get revenue from your sales.
In general, you will be able to get about 8 "free" leads per "paid" leads for the same price, and they convert about to customers at about the same rate.
It is just a matter of your risk tolerance in terms of ad spend and if your funnel works to convert people or not.
