Looking Forward to High School

What to expect:

How is it different from Middle School?

  • Larger campus - 10 minute passing periods
  • Block Schedule with tutorial - 3 classes/day on block days
  • “Less work but more responsibility” - Grades weighted toward tests

How to make the most of your 4 years

220 credits needed to graduate �D or better earns 5 credits per semester towards graduation

9th grade English eSports & Game Design

  • College Prep 9th grade English class
  • Same standards as other 9th grade English classes
  • The course is blended with additional standards from the video game design curriculum
  • Taught through the lens of the esports world
  • Contemporary literature used in class, such as The Maze Runner
  • It is NOT a gaming class

  • Health is a semester long high school graduation requirement.
  • Health must be matched up with College and Career �Planning (CCP)
  • Signing up for Health over the summer is done with your middle school counselor.
  • It is RECOMMENDED to take health at Tesoro your �freshman year.

Choosing Your Elective�Student Portal

Access the portal at: https://portal.capousd.org/ParentPortal/LoginParent.aspx?page=default.aspx

Students must have their own portal account in order to select their elective course requests. Parent accounts do not have the ability to add these requests for their child. If you will be attending another school in the fall i.e. Middle School student to High School, please make sure you select the correct record for next year from the CHANGE STUDENT menu after you login. It will indicate, “Pre-enrolled” with the school name and next grade level.

From the HOME screen, select classes, course requests entry.

  • Access the portal click here

  • Tesoro students are the only ones who have the ability to add these requests. Parent portal accounts will have VIEW ONLY access.

  • If you need to create a Student Portal account, go to the web site above and click on “Create New Account”. You will need an email address, a verification code (which can be obtained from the guidance office), and student ID number to create a student portal account. When you create the account it is very important that you select “Student” as the account type when accessing the website above.
