Search by Language Domain

To search by Language Domain, you start by selecting Strategies in the top navigation, then select Activities.
From the Browse Activity Page you can see there are filters along the left side to narrow your search.
Under Refine your results, there is a group of Domain filters - for Speaking, Listening, Writing, and Reading.
To show Activities that support students in a particular language domain, select one or more of the options under the Domains filter.
For example, if listening is the area your students struggle with the most, you might select the Listening filter to help you quickly find an appropriate Activity.
Then you see only the Activities with a specific focus on Listening.
You can scroll through your search results and glance at the bulleted learning targets on the Activity cards until you find an Activity that you want to incorporate within your lessons.

Now it’s your turn to explore an Activity Page.

Make sure you’re logged into Ellevation.

(Allow 1-2 minutes for all attendees to log into Ellevation; offer help as needed)

Now that you’re all logged in to Ellevation, I’ll review how to get to the Activities pages: First, you’re going to click the Strategies button at the top of the page.
Then select Activities near the bottom of the dropdown menu.
On the Browse Activities page, you’re going to scroll through and select any Activity that catches your eye. Or if you’re feeling adventurous, go ahead and try a filter to find a specific type of Activity using one of the Practices, a domain, or a grade range.
Click into your Activity detail and explore these key features - the About, How to, and Examples tabs, the downloads section, the Support Level recommendations. You can even watch the video if there is one to see how the Activity would be facilitated in a classroom setting.
You’re going to work on this independently. I’ll set a timer and give you a warning when time is almost up. Then you’ll get to try The Expert and the Novice to teach each other what you learned about Activity detail pages. So pay attention, explore as much as you can, and think about what your favorite feature of the Activity page is.

Once you select an Activity you’d like to try, you can click into the detail page.
Here you’ll find helpful information in the About tab such as learning targets, downloadable graphic organizers, and recommended Support Level adaptations for your ELs (which you can apply to any student). Some even include an example video of the Activity being facilitated in a classroom setting!
In the How to tab you can learn how to facilitate the Activities.
I’ll note that the Activities are universal - they can be adapted for any grade level or content area. In fact, the Examples tab lets you select your grade level and content area for a suggested adaption.
You can also see the orange Help Center button appears in the same place on all pages in Ellevation.

We talked about Modules a lot, but now it’s time for you to explore!
Log in at Login.EllevationEducation.com.

(Provide staff with username and password information)

To access the Professional Learning Modules, you’re going to click the Strategies tab on the navigation bar at the top of the page and click that first option Modules.
The first thing I see at the top of the modules page is this Banner.
Below the Banner, you also see two tabs: Pathways and Modules
The Pathways tab includes all of our module pathways - as a reminder, these are curated groups of modules oriented around common PD focus areas and instructional practices for your multilingual learners.
In the Modules tab is a full list of all individual modules available in Ellevation.
I want you to use the preview mode to explore any modules that seem interesting based on challenges you may be facing in your own classrooms.
Feel free to click around, read some of the Learn content, and you can try entering (and SAVING!) responses, or even checking out your data dashboard in more detail.

How We’re Using Modules

ELD Teachers and Classroom/Content Teachers can use 1 hour of their Co-planning time to complete a module together.

Classroom/Content teachers can complete a module by themselves and submit extended hours.
