Teacher Reflection Form (TRF)

With a heterogeneous set-up of my classroom, I find it challenging to design, adopt, and implement strategies suited for fast learners alone because gifted students’ learning style enables them to grasp complex systems and excel at higher levels of thinking while struggling with material typically considered “easy.” Many high-ability students with spatial strengths and verbal weaknesses underachieve and even drop out of school. Teachers must develop effective strategies to help these at-risk students experience success in educational settings. If students with spatial strengths find success in the educational system, then they are more likely to become creative producers in society and less likely to underachieve and be underemployed.

As a teacher of the 21st century educational set-up, I engaged my fast learners pupils to a more challenging point of the lesson. I downloaded materials such as gamified lessons, e-books, and interactive apps that fits well to my gifted pupils. With regular directions, checkings, and follow-ups, I was able to achieve a higher MPS without neglecting the special needs of my pupils.

Teacher Reflection Form (TRF)

Multiple intelligences of pupils that we deal with everyday is parallel to mainstreaming pupils included in indigenous group. I was careful in dealing with their struggles and special belief and upbringing. In my years of teaching, with due considerations of my pupils coming from different walks of life, I have come so far with the following effective culturally responsive teaching strategies: First, Activate

students’ prior knowledge- I encouraged my pupils to draw on their prior knowledge in order to contribute to group discussions, which provides an anchor to learning. Second, Make learning contextual- I tie lessons from the curriculum to the students’ social communities to make it more contextual and relevant. Third, Encourage students to leverage their cultural capital.

Because not all students come from the same background, it’s important to encourage those who don’t to have a voice.
