What is the APE? / Qu’est ce que l’APE?

​

L’APE est l’Association des Parents d’Elèves du Lycée Français International Samuel Beckett (LFI) :�

• Animée uniquement par des parents bénévoles
• De la maternelle à la Terminale
• Rôle : communiquer, représenter, animer, soutenir, proposer, développer

�3 objectifs principaux :

​

1. Créer un réseau entre les différentes familles et cultures qui font la richesse de l'école et faciliter la vie des familles�
2. Agir pour une vraie communication entre l’école (LFI) et les parents d’élèves.�
3. Apporter des contributions humaines et financières pour les projets pédagogiques de l’école.

The APE is the Parents' Association of the Lycée Français International Samuel Beckett (LFI):

​

• Run entirely by volunteer parents
• From preschool to final year (Terminale)
• Its role: communicate, represent, organize, support, propose, and develop�

3 main objectives:

​

1. Create a network among the various families and cultures that enrich the school and make life easier for families.

​

• Promote genuine communication between the school (LFI) and the parents.

​

• Provide human and financial contributions to support the school's educational projects.

Other : LFI Open days to welcome new parents + supporting school/teachers events by giving a hand (Christmas Market / bake sale etc… )

Not the main role of the APE as

• there are class representatives
• the APE is encouraging direct communication with school teaching staff and administration

But the APE can help facilitating the communication for general issues.

Projects supported/financed by the APE 2023/2024

Projets soutenus/financés par l’APE 2023/2024

Call for Projects organised by the School: Twice a year (November/March): Teachers submit projects for which they request funding. APE committee discusses these projects with the school/teachers and allocates funds (partially or totally) depending on available funds and the various projects.

​

Appels à Projets organisés par le LFI : Deux fois par an (novembre/mars) : Les enseignants soumettent des projets à destination des élèves pour lesquels ils sollicitent un financement. Le bureau de l’APE discute des projets avec l’école/les enseignants et alloue des financements (en tout ou en partie) en fonction des fonds disponibles et des projets proposés.

2023/2024 APE funded projects

• Sciences:
• Participation to BT Young Scientist Exhibition : purchase of materials and support for the exhibition stand
• Explorium : National sports and science centre
• Physics/astro club: Study of Jupiter and Saturn’s moons - visit to an Astrophysicist from the Paris Observatory 
• Mathematics : Kangourou des maths (concours organisé dans le cadre du Festival des Maths)
• Literature:
• Creating stories, producing books and Kamishibai : visit of a Children’s Book author(Cédric Janvier) to work with all the primary classes 
• Storytelling : visit of Irish author Niall de Bùrca

• Shows/movies : “We have a dream”, “the snowman and the stickman” “room on the broom + the highway rat” “Music in the Classroom"
• Danse/music : dance and musical workshops (Biodanza) encouraging imagination, expression, social bonding and body awareness
• Environment : Ateliers “Fresque du Climat”
• Sports:
• Initiation à la voile / sailing in Dun Laoghaire
• Sortie kayak
• Foot “ils sont foot ces Bretons”
• Projet JO / Olympic Games Project
• Trips :
• London : visits to several museums, and promoting cohesion between young teenagers
• Glenroe Farm
• Section Sportive Scolaire : Dinard, Bretagne
• Media : Web radio project - poursuite de la formation pour créer une web radio au LFI

Président - Réunions avec l'école: conseils d'école, conseils d'établissement, appels à projets, Lien avec l'école

Secrétaire - Communication avec l'école (primaire et secondaire), gestion des emails, mise à jour du site web

Trésorier - Tenue des comptes, lien avec la comptabilité de l'école

Recherche de sponsors - Recherche de sponsors pour la tombola de fin d'année ou autres événements

Communication - Envoie des emails aux parents, gestion de la page facebook (annonces), campagne de recrutement, création des affiches, gestion du groupe whatsapp avec les représentants des classes, recherche de volontaires

Liaison secondaire - Organisation d'événements au secondaire, coordination avec les parents bénévoles

Ventes - Organisation des photos de classe, vente de hoodies et sacs

President - Meetings with school: school councils, conseils d'établissement, projects funding

Secretary - Communication with school (primary and secondary), emails, website

Treasurer - Accounting, link with school accounting

Sponsorship - Find sponsors for the school kermesse and other events
