Who did we hear from?

The family survey was fully anonymous and therefore we cannot definitively say what percentage of SPS families responded. We estimate a response rate between 25-36% based on student enrollment data and survey directions to families.

A PowerSchool export of students in grades 3-12 was uploaded to Panorama to measure completion rates only. No data related to student answers can be accessed by SPS at any time to protect the confidentiality of responses.

A list of building staff, admin, and teachers was provided by SPS and uploaded to Panorama to measure completion rates only. No data related to staff answers can be accessed by SPS at any time to protect the confidentiality of responses.

Supporting School Leaders

Making sure school leaders are involved in the planning and analysis

School Climate Advisory

Panorama PD

The School Climate Advisory was new in 2024 and created to bring school leadership into the process of reviewing and planning for the school climate survey. The group met once a month and helped to draft and review questions, discuss roll out, and give input on how each section is being used to support practices at the building level.

Professional development is included in our contract with Panorama. We had one PD in 2024 with a local former teacher and now PD coach for the company. She led our school leadership and Climate Specialists through a 90 min training on how to approach their school data to answer strategic questions and incorporate findings into things like their improvement plans and other efforts.

Defining “Percent Favorable”

5-point scaled question favorable

7-point scaled question favorable

For more information on understanding this approach see here and here

  • For a 5-point scaled question, “Percent Favorable” is the TOP TWO RESPONSES

  • For a 7-point scaled question, “Percent Favorable” is the TOP THREE RESPONSES

  • This does NOT mean that if the “Percent Favorable” is 71% that the Percent Unfavorable is 29%. Neutral options are color coded the same as the unfavorable for quick visibility.

Growth from 2022 to 2024 is measured using percent change. This is a way to calculate how much change has occurred between two related numbers over time. It's useful when comparing trends over time. Formula is (Current Value – Original Value) /Original Value x 100
