TUTORING

  • Tutoring hours are obtained through our biweekly tutoring sessions (Monday & Wednesday).
  • Reminder: tutoring hours are a requirement!
  • This year, we will be paying attention to effective and efficient partnerships between tutors and tutees.
  • The first (real) tutoring session will take place on 8/31/26
  • Updates, reminders, and announcements regarding tutoring will be announced on Remind every week.
  • Sessions take place in U215/U217 from 2:10pm-3:15pm.

SAT & ACT TUTORING

  • SAT/ACT tutoring is held every Friday
  • Tutoring hours can also be obtained through SAT tutoring if you volunteer to help
    • If you’re interested in volunteering message me 2 days before the session on Remind or email mpetkov0312@pinescharter.net
    • Must have at least completed Algebra 1 & 2 as well as Geometry to be a tutor
  • Whether we focus on SAT or ACT Math depends on what people request at the previous weeks session
  • Different styles and content changes each week based on number of tutors and students. Ex: math drills, kahoot, etc

ALTERNATIVE TUTORING OPTIONS

WEST/AV TUTORING

  • Students are able to go West campus to tutor students in pre-algebra, algebra 1, and geometry.
  • West Tutoring occurs on Tuesdays at 3:15
  • We plan to extend our middle school tutoring to the AV Campus during their homeroom (2:45-3:15)
  • Specific days and classes for AV tutoring are TBD

HOMEROOM TUTORING

  • In preparation for the Alg 1 and Geometry EOCs, homeroom tutoring will take once a week.
  • We will receive more information about it as EOC courses progress.
  • Specific tutors will be appointed for homeroom tutoring.

LIBRARY TUTORING

  • This year we plan to extend our tutoring session to the SW Regional Library
  • This will count towards your total tutoring/hour requirements for the year
  • Looks great on college applications, as your actively interacting/influencing with your community
  • More information about this will be released in September

MATH COMPETITIONS CLUB

  • We will meet every Tuesday in room U217 at 2:10 PM
  • Meetings will involve practicing real competition questions and learning new things to prepare for the competitions
  • We go out and compete against other schools (for fun!)
  • We will have snacks at the meetings!
    • Parents can donate snacks for hours

INTEREST MEETING FOR COMPETITIONS IS ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 3RD!

SPEAKER SERIES

  • At least once a quarter we will host a speaker series.

Speaker series may or may not be held more than once / quarter

  • Attending speaker series counts as attending a meeting

Counts towards your club hours

  • Presentations from past alumni, or people working in some field of math

There may even be a PPCHS teacher or two giving these presentations
