*primero = 1st
segundo = 2nd
*tercero = 3rd
cuarto = 4th
quinto = 5th
*1st and 3rd drop the O before a masculine, singular noun! El tercer chico
*1st – 10th go before the noun. Ej. El primer libro = The 1st book
11th and higher go after the noun and use cardinal numbers. Ej. El libro veinte = The 20th book

octavo = 8th
noveno = 9th
décimo = 10th
LA INFORMACIÓN IMPORTANTE:
1) Ordinal numbers are used for numbers 1st through 10th, coming before the noun. For 11th and higher, cardinal numbers are used and they are placed after the noun.
El sexto coche = The 6th car
La chica doce = The 12th girl
2) Ordinal numbers always agree in gender and number with the nouns they modify.
La séptima computadora = The 7th computer
Las quintas novelas = The 5th novels
3) Primero and tercero shorten to primer and tercer before a masculine singular noun.
El primer piso = The 1st floor
El tercer bolígrafo = The 3rd pen
pero *La planta baja = The ground floor
4) Ordinal numbers usually FOLLOW the noun when they are used with proper nouns, even if they are 1͒ - 10͒.
Papa Juan Pablo Segundo = Pope John Paul the Second
