Welcome to

Our Voices, Our Story!

In the summer of 2021, on the dawn of the B.A. English department’s tenth anniversary, The Continuist’s and English Course Union’s respective teams had a meeting. The topic? What studying English means to us.

After several meetings of deliberation we came to the conclusion that studying English means vocalizing and understanding a multitude of stories. Our department commits in each course to represent the unique experiences presented by each story and provides diverse courses meant to introduce students to previously unknown perspectives. X University’s B.A. English program is designed to showcase all stories and we wanted to reflect that in our anniversary celebrations.

Much like what is taught in our courses, every student has a story that drives them to be the unique, creative, and talented individual they are. We wanted to create an experience that enhances and appreciates the diversity of our students and the program itself, thus, Our Voices, Our Story was born.

It is a community that makes a program successful, and every one of you has made the B.A. English program the flourishing space it is. From writing these pieces to performing them at the Our Voices, Our Story Performance Cafe on October 2nd, 2021, to submitting them to become this final piece you have made history.

To all our viewers, we thank you for your time and hope you will continue to appreciate each story you come across in your journey. We know we will.
