Congratulations Robotics!
World Finalists - Team 5150Z
Danbury Vex Robotics Team 5150Z took home two historic wins at the 2025 Vex Robotics World Championships. After being crowned Division Champions, they continued their winning streak and placed 2nd overall at the competition. Team Advisor, Erik Savoyski, coached the students throughout the season, supporting them in their quest to be the best of 9.535 teams worldwide. Photo credit: Vex Robotics.

Grammy-Winning Speaker
The Academy of Communication & Design welcomed Grammy-winner Paul Avgerinos to speak on the topic of using music catalogues as a source of creativity and income generation.
Per Justin Hitchcock, Academy Lead, “students experimented with new technologies and learned about the services offered for free to any Danbury residents.” Students will also have the opportunity in June to visit the Factory Underground Studio in Norwalk to learn more about audio production.

Justice & Law
Field Trip to Danbury PD & Courthouse
Students in the Justice & Law Pathway participated in a two-part field trip where they got the chance to watch live court cases and interact with police officers during a hands-on demonstration.
Clean Energy & Green Design
Earth Day Career Fair
The Earth Day Career Fair featured 25 different local employers. Per Academy Lead, Aimee Reutzel, students worked to complete a passport by talking to industry professionals at each table. In addition to being a networking and learning opportunity, students could also win raffle prizes by completing their passports and answering environmentally-themed trivia questions.
Culinary Arts & Hospitality
Learning from a Professional Chef
Shawn Osbey (‘98) visited with students in the Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management Pathway as well as Culinary Arts 1 & 2 to share his experience as a professional chef, entrepreneur, and competitor on Chopped. He delivered a presentation on his career path and then worked with students during a hands-on lab where they prepared rice and learned how to fry chicken.

Recipe Competition!
Students in Essentials of Culinary Arts completed their final projects by participating in a recipe competition. The competition represented the culmination of a one-month-long project wherein students were challenged to synthesize all they have learned through the year to generate their own, unique dishes. The winning entree was a stuffed pepper and the winning dessert was a carrot cake with a lemon cheesecake frosting. Bon appetit!
Emerging Technologies and Entrepreneurship
Deloitte Field Trip
Students visited Deloitte’s Stamford headquarters for an interactive field trip. This is the third year Danbury has worked in partnership with Deloitte, the world’s top accounting firm. Earlier this year, students attended an in-house workshop with young accountants to learn the ins-and-outs of what makes this Fortune 500 company so successful. On site, students participated in collaborative discussions and got a chance to see what it would be like to work in a large corporation.

Eversource Job Shadow
Students participated in a station-based job shadow day at the Eversource site in Newtown, Connecticut. Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to experience what it would be like to work in a variety of different roles with Eversource. Whether it was riding up 75 feet in the bucket truck or playing a Dungeons-and-Dragons style game to simulate the challenges of managing a large-scale energy operation, students got the chance to experience what a day in the life would be like in these high-wage, high-demand careers.

Scuba Tech!
Scuba Tech, a nonprofit working in the marine robotics space, hosted a hands-on underwater driving competition and educated the students on “new methods to survey shipwrecks and marine biomes in 3D and 4D.”
