8th Grade Math

We are asking you to select your 8th grade Math class. The final determination will be based on your performance in your 7th grade Math class and teacher recommendation. This will be determined in the spring.

Math 7 to Algebra 8 or Intermediate Algebra 8 (discuss with your current math teacher)

Intermediate Algebra 7 to Geometry 8

You will receive 2 HS credits for Intermediate Algebra and Geometry

Academy is an optional elective class. Students are selected by using test scores and teacher recommendation.

Rank all 8 electives in order of preference. You will have 2 periods of electives during the day. Health 8 is required for all 8th graders.

Language Arts

Students can earn 2 High School credits for all World Language/DLSI elective courses.

*Any of these courses will take the place of 3 trimester electives

Other Considerations

  • Students with Special Education services will consult with the student’s case manager to determine scheduling needs - could be a skills or pull-out class

  • English Learners’ (EL) services will be determined in consultation with current EL teachers

  • AVID - Advancement via Individual Determination - applications and interviews in Jan/Feb

  • DLSI - Dual Language Spanish Immersion

  • Individual scenarios - if you have other special considerations for your student’s schedule please come see Ms. Gabos for help

  • RAMS Administration & Counselor will host a Parent Question & Answer session via ZOOM on Wednesday 1/8/24 from 7-7:45pm
  • Ms. Gabos will be visiting with Social Studies classes on Jan. 10th and 14th
  • Stop by the Student Support Services Office if you need additional help
  • You will have time in STAR to complete your registration form

Schedule changes after the start of the school year will ONLY be made to fix errors, alter levels of support/rigor as determined by RAMS staff and/or to balance class sizes.
