Worthy of It All
Cornerstone
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
And I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus name

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
And I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus name

Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong
in the Saviour's love
Through the storm, He is Lord
Lord of all
Cornerstone
When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil
My anchor holds within the veil
Cornerstone
Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong
in the Saviour's love
Through the storm, He is Lord
Lord of all

Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong
in the Saviour's love
Through the storm, He is Lord
Lord of all
Cornerstone
When He shall come
with trumpet sound
Oh may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless stand before the throne
Cornerstone
Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong
in the Saviour's love
Through the storm, He is Lord
Lord of all

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven, may Your name be kept holy. May Your Kingdom come soon. May Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don't let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.For the Kingdom and all the power and glory belong to You forever and ever. Amen.

Welcome to the Day of Rest (Mark 2:27)
Scripture Reading
2Corinthians 1:1-11
Scripture Reading Principles
2Corinthians 1:1-11 (NLT)
1This letter is from Paul, chosen by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and from our brother Timothy. I am writing to God’s church in Corinth and to all of his holy people throughout Greece. 2May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.
2Corinthians 1:1-11 (NLT)
3All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. 4He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.
2Corinthians 1:1-11 (NLT)
5For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. 6Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation! For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer.
2Corinthians 1:1-11 (NLT)
7We are confident that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in the comfort God gives us. 8We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it.
2Corinthians 1:1-11 (NLT)
9In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. 10And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us.
2Corinthians 1:1-11 (NLT)
11And you are helping us by praying for us. Then many people will give thanks because God has graciously answered so many prayers for our safety.
Overcoming Sin
Satan always attacks leaders, because their fall means fall of many.Children of God despise sin and will fight for their holiness.

Spiritual Warfare for the believers
We are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
It's by choice (v. 1)
Under Attack / Temptation / Stress / Evil Spirits / Sin / Addictions / Under Influence | In Peace / At Rest Protected by God |
Can’t think straight Snaps at others (easily angered) Trusts self / prayer difficult / in fear Don’t have time for God Others are a nuisance Bad health - depression / physical Irresponsible, lack control, blames | Makes right decisions Tolerates others’ mistakes Trusts God / Full of faith God is priority Want to spend time w others Energized and focused Takes responsibility, action |
Everyone who sins is a slave of sin -John 8:34
Give into sin
Lose self-control
Failed, so keep going
Only salvation is God!
Addictions, Habits, Lifestyle
Sin = selfishness (“I am God!”)
Prevents us from loving God and others

We can help others through the suffering we experience - 2Corinthians 1:3-4 (NLT)
3…God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. 4He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.
When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.
We suffer because we lead others - 2Corinthians 1:5-6 (NLT)
5For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. 6Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation! For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer.
We place our trust in God when we recognize our need for Him - 2Corinthians 1:8-10 (NLT)
8…We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. 9In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead.
How to Overcome Sin
Overcoming sin and temptations
1. The Word and Holy Spirit(God, He’s all you got!)
2. When you fail, say: “That’s not me! Jesus forgive me.” and move on.
3. Walk with your small group / church
He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. -1Corinthians 10:13
Doctors don’t make you healthy.
Nutritionists don’t make you slim.
Teachers don’t make you smart.
Trainers don’t make you fit.
They help, but you must take responsibility and do the work
-Tim Kight
Overcoming Sin
Satan always attacks leaders, because their fall means fall of many.Children of God despise sin and will fight for their holiness.
2Corinthians 1:1-11
The challenge for this week
Consider how much you want that great calling of God. Ask Him to enable you!
Spiritual warfare is real. Fight sin!
Whom will you comfort based on your experiences? Spend time with others.
Read Romans 7-8 when youneed victory over sin
Offering Prayer
You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” 2Corinthians 9:7 (NLT)
